I bought around 14 of these All Nation boxcars at a hobby shop some years ago for a very dirt cheap price thought I might try to restore a few of them or maybe all of them. I’ve been chipping away at them for 5 years now and some have been completed. The Union Pacific box car I used a Weaver undercarriage and Atlas trucks Microscale Decals were then applied. Still have a little more to do then it’s complete. Enjoy the pics.804AAAFA-782D-4E7E-9A09-D0B02ECFA134.jpeg190CFA0B-68DC-489C-A1C0-5D739A37FE19.jpegFDCD5302-DF09-4D6F-BF04-284E944AEF38.jpeg194CDB03-1AEC-4696-8510-8DC184062C3A.jpeg04AC7577-A1D1-4513-900C-93293A2267BD.jpeg

Must be O gage 40 footers.....that makes for a pretty long train if you get 'em all done. Should be a nice addition to the layout Lee. :thumb2:

Thanks Rick. I’ve got some done already. I pulled the rest out last night to work on. Here’s the ones that are done and on the layout These I restored painting and decaling them with Microscale, Tichy Train and Champ decals. I don’t really see any problem Rick on my layout pulling these cars far as length I have plenty of room been pulling them for years now.

This will be the one I’ll be working on now. I’m changing out the sides and be adding more details to it including the trucks. Looks like there’s some severe water damaged to the sides that I found after I removed the metal sides I’ll be replacing them also. 856807B5-239B-470F-9D49-491BC401B552.jpegFA6C082A-01B5-4A3E-B34F-83E3A96D4967.jpeg270BFEB3-CC25-41B8-B4C2-4203D6202079.jpeg741B4D1D-EAE2-4F6E-97C1-C8BB960B1CE5.jpeg60DFF27C-E646-4C86-B347-980899313CA6.jpeg71525DD9-20E1-4459-952F-C7DF6BB4A243.jpeg

Nice idea of building them when the mood takes, and to be able to have them on the layout even better. Good before and after photos , more interesting .

Without the sides on it, sorta reminds me of an old shoe box ;) This can only get better as you go Lee. Looking forward to the next update.:thumb2:

Thanks Rick. I don’t know what the sides are made of but yes it looks like a wore out shoe box. The ends and top I think are Sugar Pine. Hope to get some more done tonight.

Before going to bed I made the sides and sanded to shape then cut out the freight doors. When the weather permits I’ll paint the ends and the doors. 9DAE30B8-9383-4CAB-830A-D037E042C487.jpeg26C3DCAC-649A-4552-A635-8EBDE2C2F8B7.jpegFF7D78F4-C2D1-4456-ADA3-46E4AE64806B.jpeg92BB2492-5E9F-4EB5-8421-DA4BE97046FD.jpegAA788745-2C4E-4563-B53D-BA61E24D0742.jpegA3284C0E-3A0C-46BF-AA06-2DBDAA436AA2.jpeg690BF94B-0E02-49C1-AD56-A8AD7D4C3160.jpeg1B72FCA9-DD17-439E-ADAD-FFEF3D760290.jpeg3A15E7A8-B8DE-4FB9-BD29-111D55DD847E.jpeg1339B038-7B31-4307-BD0F-DDF92C990F75.jpeg
