I have recently completed this Revell 1:72 Lockheed P-38L Lightning (Put Put Maru). I have to say that this was not a very good kit. A lot of ill fitting parts especially the nose and forward fuselage.

So after a lot of filling and sanding here are the results.

I think it's a good build from the photos. What is that thing extending from the back of the cockpit area? A ladder of some sort? I have an Airfix P38 in my 'to be built' stash.

A lovely build Steve you can't see any of the signs of fit troubles you had very well done

A beautiful plane, and an excellent build! That's just perfect, looks more like quarter scale than braille scale!

Patrick

Well I would of guessed at 1/48 scale if you had not had said otherwise!

Great build.

Err did you forget to put weight in the nose? I see you have the same trick as me. Blue tack under the nose wheel lol.

Well done.

Well spotted Ian. It was the first time I had ever been asked to put weight in a model for stability so didn't do it hence the blue tack HAHA.

It's the grab hook for carrier landings.

Seems as though you ironed out any problems you may have had! A great looking P-38. I thought it was 1/48 when I first saw it.

Very nice indeed!

You seem to have beaten the kit's problems.

I built the 1/72 Hasegawa 38 and it was the same hassles, so it seems there are no "good" 38 kits out there in 72nd.

A very nice P38 I built this kit a few years ago and agree with the ill fitting parts lol!

Well, you may of had some problems, but it worked out very nice in the end. Great result.
