Must be the first time in the last thirty years I've attacked my self with a hammer bit of a throbber don't think ill be holding any bits of plastic twixt finger and thumb for a while ,if I get too bored I might see if there's any duplo scale in the stash (1/32) I'm sure there's some leggo (1/48) but the old tru scale is defo off the menu.


But will still be hanging around to hand out my usual. Dave

Not pretty! I have to admit I've done very similar things ( to both hands ) during my career as a marine engineer. Since I jacked that in, the worst work injury I had was a paper cut!

Oof! Bet that raised a swear word or six! Not wanting to brag or anything but the worst thing I've done (except for getting some cast iron splinters in my eye about 50 years ago) is to get blisters from pushing a pencil! Yeah. Sad innit?

Let's hope for a speedy recovery - for you that is! My blisters healed long ago.

Thanks for your out pouring of sympathy :tongue-out3: actually I dont think I even swore to shocked by my mates stupidity ,christ I bet that hurt and is it throbbing bloody twit with a "a". Just as I had one built and another on the go a few more things I wanted to try was really enjoying it all still fingers crossed(good job its not thumbs)it won't take to long ,stay safe all ive just heard my brothers got covid so please still be vigilant..Dave

John R will know what I'm on about ,had a piece of plasterboard that wouldn't quite go up flush against the wall probably a brickies snot so grabbed a piece of batton to give it a good lumping with the hammer ,well ceiling was over hight stretching out over the hop up (trestle) put the hammer on full power the rest is history ,you lose the knack been using screw guns for over thirty years ,hammers you'd have thought they'd put a health warning on them . Anyway thanks again guys and as I said stay safe. Dave

Kept it dry and covered and in typical look at me I'm hard hoped it would go away ,well gave it a right knock putting some plates away noticed blood seeping through the good as any doctors dressing I'd kept on it ,on removal of said dressing thought bloody hell (did you see what I did there)with the swelling gone down the full extent of the damage became apparent, so after a barrage of pleasant words from SHMBO dragged my sorry ass down to A+E ,before I go any further lets hear a big round for our NHS and all the staff ,it was chaos in there how they cope under these circumstances is beyond me any way was triaged quite quickly sent for x-ray and then seen ,so after much picking pushing wiping pushing and poking(never hurt honest)they agreed it was a mess so no broken bone no infection put some stuff on to stem the bleeding not able to stich glued it all as best they could and dressed it ,better than mine though mine lasted two days at work and received a tetanus for my troubles at least they don't come in the bum any more. So sat here bored with day time telly decided to bore you ,how long it will be before handling small parts again I dont know cant even do my own shoe laces, so just for now even more time to hang about on here and continue to annoy. Dave

Not mine, but my missus managed this a couple of weeks ago:



Doesn't look much, but there's two broken bones and a dislocated ankle in there.

To add insult to injury, she couldn't move so had to sit on the pavement outside until the ambulance arrived. We called for one at about 8:55 pm. It finally showed up at 4:20 the next morning - nearly 71/2 hours later. I could have walked to the hospital, collected a wheelchair, bought it back and took her to the hospital myself in less time than that - but of course they couldn't give us an ETA so we just had to wait.

Good news is, she's recovering well and zooming around on the cheapo wheelchair she bought. Cheapo 'cos it cost less than what the NHS were going to charge her for renting one.
