Very nice Los, is that a shadow in the first picture or has the yellow missed the inside of the fender.

There is some subtle shadows in that area but it is definitely highlighted by my lighting in the photo

Sadly this build is almost a whole month behind schedule now :rolling: but the first weathering steps have finally begun!
Before closing up the cab, the floor was weathered with various enamel dust colours and the tread plate dry brushed with some dark oils to simulate some light wear. The steering wheel was then added before both sub assemblies were finally fixed together.
The basic engine and fuel tank were fixed to the chassis followed by the track wheels. The tracks then received their first weathering; a light speckling of dusty enamel colours. The track teeth and sprocket rollers were first burnished with a pencil before fitting.
To start the process of adding light dusty layers to the the running gear this new assembly received a couple of coats of hairspray. A dusty coloured mix of acrylics were then added sparingly and once dry the acrylic coat was agitated with an old brush. This left a ground in effect, especially around the tyres.
To start the weathering on the front wheels, a very light dried earth enamel was blended out from the rims. This all looks a bit stark but will be toned down with further applications of pigments and oils.

Don't feel bad, Los. I'm a month over too. Love your weathering work. Subtle, but not overdone and it looks so realistic. Can't wait to see it all come together, no matter how long it may take Sir!!!... Also hope you had a great holiday and got some nice pressies too...

Nice feeling to make it to the point where it all falls together so it's now time to apply some dust, filth, grime and general wear and tear.
First up was a speckling with various mixes of pigment and oils diluted in white spirit followed by the lightest coloured dust layer of heavily diluted buff oils.
Once dry there are a few areas that will require cleaning up then it's on to the next layer.

Superb weathering. I do like that tarp cover.
Project 99.99% complete. Apart from the width indicators which, although I had already painted, seem to have gone walkabout, the 8ton is complete. I will post pics up on the completion page once I locate them

Beautiful finishes & the tilt is killer.
It might have been a frustrating build, but it has resulted in an outstanding build. Truly believable and effective :thumb2:
