I wanted to share some pics of a recent visit to a LST docked here on the River in Pittsburgh PA this past weekend. It’s one of three still operating around the globe and the only operational one here in the states. It was very interesting to walk aboard this vessel. I cant imagine what it was like to be on the open sea in this craft during war time. I hope that you enjoy the pictures.

Thanks for sharing those - a really interesting subject.

Great pics Joe!
Nice to see 40mm before and the 20mm Oerlikon, we still used them onboard our Leanders up to about 1994/5 when we decommissioned the last one.
Haven't seen a ship to ship transfer chair in a long time, the RN used to use a bosuns chair, I've seen it done via a light jackstay transfer with an officer slung in a strop with once only suit and lifejacket, you could hear the crew chanting to dunk him in the oggin... skipper wasn't happy about that, he was the one in the strop! :tears-of-joy:

YES Joe thnks for sharin as these LST are a lot bigger than i though they were an brill pics well done

Nice to see one so well preserved. Closest I've ever been to one is Call of Duty!!!! They are quite a beast for a landing craft.
Thanks for posting the images.

Thanks for those excellent photos. Like Chris I didn't realised just how big these were.

What an incredible experience. That is one tour I would love to go on!
Thanks for sharing the photos of this historically important vessel. I hope I get the chance to visit one someday.
Cheers :thumb2:
