Thanks for the support guys,

Got the main structures in place and a fair bit of the ground work basics laid out, there's a few doors still needed and the outside wooden supports and ties for the tents. The trees are twigs with added twisted wire and foliage to represent Ginkgo trees, the bushes are two strands of wire with short lengths of seperated garden twine twisted into them. (i.e. double a length of wire, attach the folded end to a nail/hook on bench, lay one wire end out on bench, glue it with epoxy, add lengths of twine across it in clumps, place other wire over top, attach both loose end to drill/dremel and slowly twist, the clumps get caught in the twists and create bushes.)

The showers are finished, mainly balsa. The taps are the cross over section from mesh, the shower heads are small road wheels from a 1/72 kit, the pipes are soldering wire, the door handles are just a knotted length of thick thread. i've left the shower roof removable, the latrine is too hard to see into so i've closed it all up.

The tent tops are still removable so the inside detail can be seen (when it's all in there)

Looking excellent mate you have some great ideas for DIoramas never throw anything out you can use so much in a Dio, loved M A S H.

I will clean up the Popcorn when it is finished...

Robert

looking great Colin. Where do you guys keep these models once they are made?

Thread owner
Thanks Robert, dustpan and brush are in the lobby mate :) :)

Thanks Steve, I may have to jiggle stuff around to display this, i have a book case that i have a few shelves for models (the other shelves are taken up with cereal tubs containing tarantulas (not as weird as it sounds)

I have the top of some vivariums that i display stuff on as well, luckily Elaine's not into ornaments etc so more room for my creations.

You don't stop to surprise me with your details. Great dio!

Love it!

Cheers. Polux

The Cinema is FULL Sir, if we get anymore wanting in would it be ok for them to sit in the aisles...

The diorama is looking fantastic Colin, coming along very well indeed. Looking at it brings back memories of childhood TV :)

well i'm back on this now after a break with the "what-if" build.

Got the important basketball hoop and ball in situ.

Started on the 2.5 t wagon from italeri, i must say the detail is very good and, apart from a little flash on some smaller parts needing cleaned, it's gone together very easily

as it's an open back wagon i'll have to scratch the struts and canvass cover for it, hopefully will look the part when done.

will make a start on the jeeps this week maybe, they'll just be a straight forward build OOB.

Got the majority of furniture made up and will start putting it into situ within the tents in between waiting for stuff to dry etc. should be able to see how much rooms left for other little details then (BJ's got to have a pile of socks ready for the wash hasn't he :) :) :) )

Gave the seat a covering of laggers tape to simulate cracked leather.

Made the back up and have glued together the "slatted inners" to form a bench that will be secured inside, should look ok as the bench they used to hold extra stretchers. The back of the truck will have a scratch built canvas top with a roll up canvas door at the rear.

So the canvas attempt is done..

added a front board made of balsa and some wire struts of garden wire.

View attachment 51649View attachment 51650View attachment 51651

soaked the canvas (camo trouser fabric) in thinned PVA and draped it over the assembly till dry, then trimmed to shape and added some runners to cover the lower edge.

View attachment 51652View attachment 51654

whilst drying i finished the cab.

View attachment 51653

Painted them up and put them all together and here's the result

View attachment 51655View attachment 51657View attachment 51656

Just got to add decals, weather it, add all the ropes/chains etc and paint the red crosses on the canvas

Outstanding work to date Colin, may i just point out the rear seats look a little to high to me, hope u dont mind me saying (maybe im wrong).

Keep up the good work & keep the pic's coming.

John.

Thread owner
Thanks John, i'm enjoying this and the pics will be comin' a plenty :)

The rear "bench" is actually a shelf that enabled them to carry extra stretchers, two on the shelf and two on the floor, the free space on the other side was used by the medics en route to the MASH unit.
