Does anyone have any tips on how to make rags and cleaning cloths for dioramas? I want to have some lying around for an engine maintenance scene. Any suggestions wlecome!

I've heard talk (but never tried) tissue dipped in watered down PVC glue is good as you can then shape the cloth before it dries hard and bobs ya aunties mothers brother.

You will need the thicker single ply tissue, like from a workshop roll. No pattern and easier to cut up.

Every day kitchen foil works as well, you will need to paint it though :-)

I've used both milliput and the tissue mens tissues worked for me I used a watered down house hold filler and it works

To add on to John's milliput tip, make sure you add talcum powder to the rolling pin and surface (on which you are rolling the putty). If not everything will stick together.

Thanks guys - I've done the tissue paper/PVA-water mix method; seems to have worked!

Or roll between two sheets of clingfilm. This can be quite a good way of getting convincing wrinkles and folds, as well, just scrunch up the clingfilm a bit first.
