This should keep me busy during the winter.

Airfix. Looking at the sprue instructions etc this has the looks of a Tamiya. Hope so as it looks a very exciting model. Month of Sundays for the decals never seen so many.

Hope to keep posted with progress.

Laurie

some detail in that one.

I haven't done an airfix since I was a kid

Wow, this looks interesting.

Can't wait to see it started!

From all I have seen and read, you will not be disappointed. By all accounts a great build.

I look forward to seeing this come together as I have one on my "to buy" list.

One thing I have read is that the instructions can be a bit iffy and need careful studying.

Hi Laurie. Having done the new Airfix 1/48 Lynx in the GB i was looking at this one, so will watch you if you don't mind

Very nice helicopter the Lynx Ian.

Live in a block of flats with a grassed area on the frontage. 10 weeks ago a Lynx flew in below our balcony level & landed on the grass. Very spectacular. Allowed to get in have a look & took loads of photos. Got ot build soon as they gave out A3 photos & mine is looking down on me.

That looks like a very complicated little kit. That is also a lot of decals. The stencils on modern aircraft beggar belief!

No pop corn here. I've just stuck a roast in the oven!

Cheers

Uncle Laurie!

I too am not a popcorn eater.

Is this kit a new tooling?

Thread owner
Do believe "young" Aidan that it was released beginning of this year.

Actually Aidan I suspect that you are more of a Kit Kat eater or second guess Doughnuts.

In that case, unc, you'll love it. I'm building the new tooling lancaster and it fits together like a dream! Loving it!

Kit kat? Doughnuts? I must be a very boring person!!!!!

What happened to the build thread Aidan. I was enjoying that.

Back on subject..

I was going to build this for the chopper GB but things got in the way...

At last after moving and setting up essential works area getting down to the important things. Making a Merlin.

First thing of interest this is a brand new model & therefore new tooling by Airfix. Noticed that the plastic is softer than the average manufacturers plastic.

The underside of the main deck with the forward landing wheel housing.

The flight deck. The detailing very nice. But you need to be careful with sprue cutting as the seat frames for instance snapped in a couple of places as seen here.

The aft main wheel landing gear housing. Very nice detailing on the leg support.

So far all the pieces have gone together well. Using Tamiya & Mr Cement glue works well & it is easy to get a little plastic to ooze out of the joints.

Seat belts are out at least in the cabin as there seem to be millions of seats.

Nice thing is that the loading ramp can be left down & you will be able to view all the internal work. A rare treat.

Darn I should put plastic over the keyboard I am drooling so much! This I am sure will be a stunning build.

Thanks Theuns. Some more soon & hope it keeps up the drooling. Do you drool on wine or beer. Just for future use.
