According to the Mayans, the world will end on the 21st. (this coming Friday)

Should they get it right, cheerio chaps and thanks for a great time on Scale Models, I've had a ball!

If they get it wrong, may I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a great New Year and all good health for 2013 and beyond.

Now I'm off to stick my head between my knees, try to stretch enough to kiss my **** goodbye, and start to pray.................

Best wishes,

Ron

The Mayans didn`t get it wrong.....

They just ran out of stone to carve any more dates on .

So a Happy Christmas and New Year to all.

What ho Ron, I bet you my entire stash, and I'll throw in the paints, glues, fillers, varnishes, brushes, airbrushes and all the other "stuff" accumulated over the last 25 years, that the Mayans were wrong!

If they were right I won't be needing any of it anyway :)

With that I'll wish you, yours and everyone else a merry Christmas etc. I intend to eat and drink far too much,I'm starting an intensive training course for the drinking tonight!

Steve

To one and all on this merry forum wishing you all a very merry christmas and a happy new year.

Oh yes, if they got it right, I want the money back on all the pressies I have bought............ Hey ho, knowing my luck, it won't happen and I will remain skint :)

May I wish you all, and your families, a very happy and peaceful Christmas. Remember, it is not just about the pressies, it is a chance to show those you love and care about just how much you do love and care for them. This is not accountable with the price ticket on a gift, it is accountable by your actions. Make it a good one folks.

Merry Christmas everyone,

I have a hard time believing the prediction of a self sacrificing civilization that couldn't foresee or prevent their own demise. A longer Mayan calender has been found as well.

Happy Christmas to everyone in here and I hope you all have a great 2013 and I wish you all, all the luck in the world...

Well i hope the direct translation of the mayan prediction comes true, i.e. we all move into a new world age ... gotta be better than the one we live in now eh?

If the rough translation is correct then it's been nice knowing you all :)

I believe this was defunked as the guys that converted the dates seemed to have forgotten that we had a ten month calender back then.... they worked it out with the gregorian jobbie and disyphered then converted back with 12 months therefore extending the dates by 20% or so.

Anyway it can't happen as i've got my group builds all worked out for 2013 :) :) :)

MERRY XMAS EVERYONE :)

Well I don't know about the Mayan Calender, but I've just bought a new 2013 Calender from WH Smiths and it goes right up to December 2013, so I'm guessing we've got at least another 12 months :)

So Merry Christmas and a happy and healthy new year to you all.

Atb, Colin.

Merry Christmas, everybody! I'm getting the Airfix 1/24 Stuka for Christmas, and my boy (14) has asked for model kits for the first time this year. He's getting the Revell Concorde, the Airfix new-tool Mk (24?) Spitfire and a 1/72 Hurri. Happy days. :)

They also didnt take into account leap years, it should have happened already :)
the mayan counting system is 6000 (ish) years old, leap years were invented only 2060 (ish) years ago so they didn't have leap-years, their counting system had three "calendar systems" per year ... solar, religeous and historical, their concept wasn't based on the solar year just pure mathematics. Their calendars (all different amounts of days in them) syncronise every 52 years (as it works out)

They counted in "base 20" for recording days (base 18 for the second cycle) so they would track days in lots of 20 - 360 - 7200 - 144000 etc etc.

using their "counting system" ..... the 21st is when we hit the end of a 144,000 day cycle and the calendars converge.

Thats it in simple terms...... i wont go into any more geeky detail cos i dont want to be abused and insulted by you all on my last day or two on the site (whilst the worlds spinnin') :) :) :) :) :)
