discussion Micro Set and Sol, alternatives?

Crikey, I’ve just been looking to get some new Micro Set and Sol, when did it get so expensive?

The price seems to have gone up an awful lot for what it is since I last bought some.

Do any of you use an alternative decal setting solution sets, AK interactive, VMS etc and if so would you recommend them?

I do use Mr Setter / Softer for thicker decals but am looking for a Micro Set/Sol alternative.

I’d be interested to hear your experience.

Only other I've tried was the humbrol stuff....... Nowhere near as good as Sol/set in my opinion...... Rather pay the extra for stuff I trust

I like the VMS stuff however I do tend to be a bit of a VMS fan generally so I might be biased.

I use Mr Softer and Mr Setter, and have also had no problems with Humbrol's Decalfix

Never really thought about the cost as it seems to last forever Geoff, unless you knock it over which I have done frequently.

I also use the VMS 2-1 Set Soften solution and can only praise it.

Only use Micro sol/set so far, just had a quick google and the prices seem to be quite similar for the different manufacturers. Lots are in 28ml bottles, and some are cheaper, but appear to be in small bottles, (18ml) so therefore work out about the same. Humbrol do a 125ml bottle (Decalfix) for just under £8 which seems cheap, (they also do a standard 28ml bottle for £7) Cheers
