Richard - Hi, and very glad to hear that you're sculpting again. A polar explorer - I'll get the Krycell out.

Can't do too much more to make our man look younger - perhaps he's been held back from promotion for some reason. This is his chance to prove himself.

Richard - Thank you. I've still got two children at home, so babysitting is part of the daily round.

Morning Peter

Being on holiday has certainly knocked out my routines!

Super work on the Midshipman, some people just have older faces than their age.
We will all have seen middle aged looking children and baby faced adults.

Is your grand child a boy or girl, or have I completely missed it?

I'll blame my age if I have!

Could be time to retire!

Enjoy the pre nappy changing time, are you due to go and visit soon?

Have a good day with the paint or visiting

Regards

Steve H

Many thanks for the positive comments chaps.

Steve - Glad you're enjoying your time off - must have been a busy weekend.

I think it's true that people would have looked older in the days when life expectancy, among the poor at least, averaged 40 years. That and the ravages of life in Nelson's navy....

My wife and younger daughter are down in Lewes looking after the mother and baby, and my son and I (and the dog) are going down on Saturday. Here's a picture of my beautiful Granddaughter, Remi:

Can't wait to get my hands on her....

The main part of the figure is now done:

I've tried to depict the blue-black colour of naval uniforms of the time by holding back on using a pure blue. The jacket was done with mixes of Flat Black and Deep Blue with Off White added for the highlights.

Thanks Richard - a relatively simple figure, but the details mount up.

Peter.
I shall join the ranks of praise posters.

I remember you once saying white was hard to paint ? Well this has come out looking superb, esp like the brass work painting.
John.

Danny - Thanks. The larger scales are much easier to paint than 1/35, which I struggle with.

Jon - Thanks also. It's taken me a long time to become comfortable with painting whites, but I quite enjoy it now.
