MK XVI Spitfire engine colour?

I've lost my mojo for building right now due to my "brother" forcing the sale of my home and so I've been looking through my stash trying to get inspiration again.

I've been looking to build the Revell Supermarine Spitfire MK.XVI I have for something easy ish. Whilst reading the painting guide I notice it says to paint the main block a dust grey Revell number 77, this seems a little light from what little I know considering the box art shows a very dark grey yet the actual side box picture of a completed model shows an almost aluminium colour.

I know there are far more knowledgeable people on here so I thought I would ask for you advice :)

all the photographs I have seen they are black.

A restoration can be any colour the owner fancies, it's his or hers, whose to say they can't have it pink if that's what they want :)

So dark with loads of burnt on oil then... :)

Ther's more oil on ther overalls than in the engine! That's why we calld them sumpys in the RAF.
