Very interesting and thanks for posting Rick.

Me and the present Mrs. Ron live about 8mls from Aerospace, Broughton, Chester.

When the place was called De Havilland, I well remember almost daily, watching the Mosquito circle our place prior to landing going at some rate of knots! It was used to collect weather info. It unfortunately crashed killing both crew members some time later. As the aircraft was a regular sight in the skies around Chester, news of the crash was in all the local papers,
I was so lucky to actually see a flying 'Mossie' so often....and the sound!

Strangely, as it was (I think) the only airworthy Mosquito at the time, there is no mention of the crash on wikipedia - unless I've missed it.

As an aside, the Lancaster which still flies with the B.O.B. Hurricane and Spitfire, was built at the same 'Dehavs' factory nr. Chester.

I remember seeing the same Mosquito at a show at RAF Sealand when I was a lad. So I have seen one in the air, but the memory is a little faded. It was at the same show, I saw a Vulcan and a Shackleton all display. I think this show might have been the my kick start into 'all thing with wings'

That's very good news that those records have been recovered. Two Mosquitoes have been built in recent times in NZ, both now residing in the US. A third is under construction (I think it might be UK bound)
