It is 1954 and America is testing the effects of radioactivity on any thing and every thing, including small animals. During one test a radioactive leak occurs and a tarantula spider is exposed to a huge amount of radiation, but instead of dying it starts to grow, and grow , and GROW!!!!!!!!!

The tarantula smashes its way out of the test facility and escapes. After causing chaos through the small mid western town and terrifying the locals, it crashes headlong into the towns power station and destroys it causing power disruption and further chaos and making people run for their lives.

Don't you just love those old American Sci-fi films where a small beastie is turned into a monster by radioactivity.

What great kits these are , I made the giant scorpion one when I was a kid I think I was about 10 , it had a building and the the tail was smashing part of it it also had a little care being crushed in one of the pincers and it's time to visit evilbay to see if I can get it

One tip Tony, is to use small black paint brush bristles on parts of the body and legs...if possible.

Great kit and and as Alan points out a real trip down memory lane.

Thanks for the great replies guys. Sorry I've not replied before this but the doc found a cancerous growth on my face and I've had to be at the hospital a few times so modelling not been top of the list recently. they've done a biopsy and I'm waiting for an appointment to have it removed in the next six weeks.

There was plenty of holes in the joints to fill, but it looked OK when done and given an undercoat.
The dio was supplied on thin card View attachment 71033

which was very wobbly so it's got a hardboard backing now.

I went for a Red Kneed variety, is this right Colin? and I gave it Red eyes, well it is radio active!!!!

Red kneed tarantula .... There's quite a few mate ..... And I won't waffle on and put you all in a coma.

Irrelevant really as this is looking quite tasty at the mo, I like how you've done the colouration down the legs, effective indeed.

The Giant Radioactive Spider sat in its dio. I've never done wire stringing before, on a dio at least, and I'm quite pleased with the result.
Next post should be in the completed section, I hope.
