I posted some screenshots recently showing a beam engine I'd designed and was hoping to 3D print. It's done! I designed the engine in a CAD programme called SolidEdge and printed it on my Ender3, an old FDM printer not known for high resolution. If I'd printed it on my resin printer, the quality would be much better but the downside(s) are glueing the bits together and fragility. It's a static model, no moving parts, and I had to scale it up from the drawn size by 50%. It's one an a half times bigger than drawn. Here's a few pics.

A luverly box o bits!, most of 'em painted.

I clad the cylinder in strips of thin wood, then sanded, stained and varnished it. I used ordinary PVA wood glue. It seems to work fine.

Trial fit, not too sure about the fire engine red frame. I might change it, not sure.

Finished pictures. The cylinder cladding was fitted with thin brass straps.






Now I can get on with my model car!
