Hi,
I have been interested in military modelling for some time now. After a false start a while back buying a few kits of interest, i have made a bit of a return and have now started my first real attempt at a diorama.
Rarher than just build an isolated kit or two, I have invented a scene in my mind with a rough idea of what I want to model to match the scene. Agreed ......probably putting the cart before the horse but anyway .....
I have started assembling a baseboard and cladding with some insulating foam to build up formation to give a river crossing with a blown out bridge together with a blown out building on one side ( gerry side ) with allies approaching from the other side.
Generally, I will be working with foam baseboards and a couple of plaster kits from Fields of Glory ( bridge and building ) cobble roads ..... cast myself using Diorama Debris moulds, and modroc plaster bandage and general scenic materials.
The vehicles are to be determined but a german pak 40 will feature ..... poking out from somewhere. I will also attempt to detail the blown outbridge utilising some techniques ( using the black arts ) to provide ( hopefully ) sufficient pirotechniques displays .... ha ha ha .
Ihave already started the diorama although you have not missed much. There is only really the first couple of layers of foam been commited as yet. I will get a couple of photos up and then post regular updates of my progress.
I work away from home Monday to Friday so progress will be limited to the weekends so I will apologise up front.
Feel free to follow, comment, critisise and make any suggestions you see fit ........ I am not creating a technically correct scene in terms of historical correctness ...... its just something that could fly in the imagination of most.
Wish me well.
Toto
