Kudos to you ralph ( and everyone else whos opened up) it takes a lot of courage to talk about something like this and you’ll only find help and encouragement from your friends on here . I think the over riding feeling is that its a lot more common than you think and that it can only be a positive thing talking about it . We’re always here if anybody needs to talk or sound off . Cheers tony

Thanks for sharing Ralph and all others, I’m glad that the meds and modelling help to keep the demons at bay for each of you.
As said it isn’t a guy thing to talk about these things, so very courageous of you to step up and if it helps by all means please do.

Once I witnessed an artist giving an emotion speech on stage about his depression and such, he ended it with a phrase like’’ No matter how dark it seems, the world is a better place with you on it’’...

Take care and moggel on guys.

Ralph
Your one of us one big family of friends your never alone if you ever need to talk one of us is here to support you. This past January 10 I suffered a severe anxiety attack never had one in my life. I’m a truck driver and I had to rearrange my life. I’m 50 yrs old I’ve been driving for 30yrs been at the same job for 23yrs but the long hours and sitting behind the wheel caught up with me in January. So I came off the road now I work local home every evening and I will only work about 10hrs a day after seeing the doctor and praying a lot I’m heeled from it. My life is so better now I try not to let things get to me like I once did. My Mother suffered from metal problems all her life she died when she was 56 of cancer she was such a good woman and a great mother I often wondered why she suffered so much in life but my dad never left her side for 40yrs of marriage till she passed away. So my friend we’re all here for you and I understand. Keep modeling and postive thoughts. You are a great person and good hearted my friend always looking forward to your stuff take care my friend

Thanks for sharing Ralph, I'm about a half bubble out of plumb myself. Been A.D.D. most of my life and the scale modeling and focus on detail work helps me to deal with it. Now that I think about it, seems to be the new normal. Cheers Mate and welcome to the club! Rick H.

I think this thread proves two things
  • Mental Health issues are far more common than you think.
  • Modellers are all slightly unhinged ( at least that's what my friends say! ) :tongue-out:
Seriously, though, talking, and knowing that other people suffer problems is beneficial. We have to get over the macho fear of discussion, and worst of all ( for me ), the thought that you're looking for sympathy

It's good to read all this honesty, love and support for each other. That's why many of us have joined this forum. We're not here to bitch about minor blemishes in other's work but to enjoy a common hobby and we'd like to help each other to get better at it. Being honest about our private struggles is refreshingly encouraging too. As others have said, we ALL have mental issues, if we are honest with ourselves and each other. Keep taking the pills, pray, make models and enjoy each other's company.
