Hi everyone.
Just got the Highland Officer out of his box to start trimming the parts, to discover the sword is bent. It's a resin figure and the curve isn't too bad, but still needs straightening.
Any suggestions?
Thanks
DS

Soak in hot water, should soften it enough to straighten. I'd probably clamp it to something straight as it cools.

I tend to hold bent swords (etc!) over the steam from a kettle.

A hair dryer works well to soften resin for bending — less messy than hot water, provided you’re careful where you point it :)

lol ha, just don't do what I did earlier in my modeling days: hold a lighter under it! :surprised: bad things happen..

It's why I suggested hot water, you can soak it until it's pliable enough to straighten, without the risk of overheating and ruining the piece.:)

...and have a piece of white metal ready to glue onto the hilt if all goes t1ts-up.

Dave...the sword in those days were specially for cutting round corners...I'll get my coat. :smiling4:

I would clamp it straight first then insert in hot water then let it cool with the clamp still on.

Cheers,
Richard

This is why I like white metal! You can just bend it back into shape if it has a dog-leg.
