I purchased a Dragon Nashorn 6165 early and want to convert it to the later type.

I'm not sure if the parts for both the Dragon early Nashorns 6165 and the later 6166 are the same sprues in each box.

Has any one manage to convert this from early to the late?

I also must thank Jason from LSA models as this kit was just over £10 on his sale as he is shortly closing his business. A services that will be missed by many.

Dragon's late or main production Nashorn (6166) has extra parts to update the early version, with gun shield, front travel lock, exhaust pipes being different just for starters.

Panzer IV Ausf J drive sprockets would

also be needed. Personally, I'd leave it as-is or buy #6166.

Cheers

Thanks Patrick,

Does any one know how many early Nashorns were made? I know that they almost stopped production once the Jagdpanzer 4's started rolling off the production line however I did read that they were still being made in small numbers in 1945.

Found this info about Nashorns on the Actung Panzer site for some further info as i had thought only 300 were made. How many on what chassis isn't stated.

Ausf G and H were made in 1943 and H and J's were made in 1944, so I'm not too sure what the kit 6165 is based on, but will no doubt find out when I build it.

I thought it was gun shield, zimmerit and hull mg. oh and name change to elefant. I admit my research was limited to seeing if I could get away with building a 1/72 elefant without adding zim. Turns out I couldn't but did anyway,I mean adding zim to 1/72 scale...no ty.
