Neil's Eduard 1/48 Mig-21 PF

Well, I found it is the wrong model of mig-21 - MF/Bis/SMT - but then will it really matter? I can find plenty of seats, but just this one with the pilot, however, still googling.

Nice choice Neil, the Mig-21 is a truly iconic Cold War fighter. I doubt anyone would ever notice that the cockpit additions are for another version.

That's what I figured too. A ghost pilot, though, is more of an issue in-flight.

I love the shape - Mig 21, Phantom and Lightning. Just the best.

I'm tempted to have it in-flight with the airbrakes open, but will see. It will be in flight, and I've ordered the pilot.

OK, here we go...

First, it will be the Polish scheme and I bought a pilot in his seat.

Helpfully, the instructions give grey / interior green / silver as the colours for the cockpit and undercarriage bays! I've gone for interior green. I have primed in black and then green so really just some painting on the sprue today, plus a bit of painting the pilot - even though he doesn't go in until after the fuselage is all together.

Obviously first coat, so another one will be needed next week,

My first dilemma, I want to do this in flight - but two issues:

1. Eduard really love their wheel bays and do not give an option for wheel bays closed. So I will do them as painted and ready for either.
2. There is not much room to put a rod into, especially if the airbrakes are down

Curiously, you can have the airbrakes deployed - and realistically that is only in flight, so why no closed wheel bays?
