End of work, looking for distributor who would be interested, some model shop or something.
From a marketing perspective, you are probably better off selling some directly through forums or eBay, get your name and product out there. Once you have a customer base who can recommend your product you may get more interest from retailers. Supply and demand.

I haven't used any PE parts yet, still fairly new to model making. However the tool looks really well done and high quality. I think it would be a good idea, once you have a distributor, to approach a few model making magazines, Airfix model world, Fine Scale Modeller and Scale Military Modeller and get them to do an article on your item, i'm sure one of them would be interested in featuring it on one of their pages which would help boost sales and get people talking about it. I would think about patenting it before you go to a magazine, because if you don't protect your idea, it will be copied by cheap chinese manufacturers who can make them by the container load, but patenting is not cheap! and only worth while if there is a real demand for your product, if you are only selling a hundred or so a month, probably not worth the cost. Plus, if you wanted to sell on the product to a bigger name, such as Tamiya or Hornby you would need your idea protected to give it value. The idea behind selling an idea for a product which is patented to a bigger company is you can gain royalties and minimise or even completely reduce your overhead expenses because they take on the marketing, manufaturing and sales.

Not sure a Patent ever stopped the Chinese copying anything.
Does make me wonder if any of the other PE bending tool manufacturers have a patent on this style of tool?

Looking on packaging of ones I already stock I would say none, I can’t see what could be patented on one, but then again I’m no expert in patent law.
I was just thinking about all the manufacturers that make tools like hammers and hand saws. I dont think anyone has patented a hammer or indeed most hand tools in common use, so it would probably be very very difficult to patent a tool of any description unless it was very very unique. The PE bender is essentially a hand tool and this gentlemans version is just his approach to it. I know a lot of companies that cant patent their idea tend to opt for the tagline 'the original' or 'the authentic' in their marketing strategy once copies start appearing on the market.
