How to get better flow accross panel lines?

Hi guys I've been model making for a couple of years now and one problem keeps coming up which is, when I use a colour wash on panel lines I am not able to achieve a nice capillary action like I've seen in a lot of how to videos. I tend to get away with it most of the time but I end up having...

    Flexible or angled Diamond Files?

Hi Folks I'm trying to find out if anyone knows of any kind of diamond file that is flexible, for getting around corners or angled parts of a model kit? Most of the stuff I have to file down is on a flat surface but sometimes parts can be difficult to reach. I tried bending a cheap diamond...

Airfix Junkers JU87 Stuka 1:72 by Alex

Hi guys It's been a while since I last posted a build and this is my latest one which I'm calling finished I opted for the more complex camo scheme and I'm quite happy with the result, I like to challenge myself but some transfers didn't make it and ended up getting crumpled so I had to be a...

    1:72 and 1:76 what's the deal here?

Hi folks I've often wondered why is it that armour comes in different scales to aircraft? 1:76 for armour and figures but the aircraft equivalents are 1:72 Then there is also no equivalent scale for 1:35 armour except maybe 1:24 or 1:32 scale aircraft

    Metalic chip marks

Hi folks I'm currently building a 1:72 stuka in desert camo from the libyan campaign and im thinking about giving it a bit of a battle scarred look. One way i want to do this is create a metalic chip effect to mimic pieces of flak schrapnel ricoched off the aircraft. Im quite confident with...

Scratch build from random things found on a building site!

I've only done one dio and that was over a year ago now. It was a German machine gun team and I think it's only fair to do a British machine gun team. This time I am going to use a few things I've found on the building sites I work on, people often throw away excellent model making materials...

Italeri A10 Thunderbolt 1:72 (Red Devils)

Hi Folks Finally finished my A10 Thunderbolt and it was a great kit to build, i'd recommend it for anyone looking to do a A10 in 1:72. It has many colour schemes and decal options straight out of the box. Have to be careful to put some weight in the nose because of the uneven weight...

    Coffee or Beer?

What's your favourite beverage when you are whiling away the hours at your modelling bench? Mines a good strong coffee

    Removing transfers

I'm sure this has been asked before. Does anyone have a good way to remove transfers which have dried on to the kit? It's not covered yet with a clear coat but I have used decal fix to fix it on. It's not a huge deal but i've put a couple in the wrong place after studying the instructions...

    White tack

Hi Just bought some white tack as i understand it doesnt leave a residue behind like blue tack does. Has anyone here used it in place of tape for marking out camo or for cannopies? Is it any good

    UH-60A Transport Helicopter 1:72 Revell

Hi folks This is my latest build and the second helicopter for my display. Took 6 weeks in total, had some issues with the front cannopy but it didn't turn out too bad in the end.

    Cannopy glue

I've come accross a problem i've never had before with cannopies and clear parts. Usually i get away by using extra tacky PVA glue as it dries clear and once dry is fairly strong, but it does take a very long time to dry. As most of you probaby know, using plastic cement or super glue is out of...

Tiger Eurocopter UHT 1:72 by Revell

This is my latest build and my first helicopter. Took me a good 6 weeks to get this one finished, painted with Humbrol and Revell acrylics, also used AK interactive Xtreme metal paint for the exhausts. There should be a rail on the side of the aircraft but it's so flimsy, every time i picked up...

Using an airbrush without being near ventilation?

Hi guys I will one of these days be moving on to airbrushing, but I would like to buy a pro one so I get the best result and experience. My problem is my work area isn't set up close to a window, and the closest window has a massive wall unit infront of it, so I was wondering is it possible to...

Any idea what I can use these for?

Hi guys Working on a building site, i come accross some interesting things from time to time which i think would be useful for model making. I found some of these today which are used as shock absorbers for PVCU windows when they are in transit. They are made out of some kind of foam, quite...

    A good metalic paint?

Hi everyone I'm interested to find out what you recommend for a good metalc acrylic paint? I mainly use Revell and Humbrol because they are the ones on offer at my local hobby store. However whilst the colours are quite good i find the metalic silvers and steels to be a little underwhelming...

Any tips for painting seat belts?

I'm currently working on a helicopter and realised i've never really had to worry about seatbelts before since i've either had a pilot or the seat just didn't have any. Currently i'm using a cocktail stick to paint the seat belts and then using the dry end to trim back the over spill of the...

    Alex's Airfix GR9 Sea Harrier 1:72

This is my latest build, a bit more modern than my current collection of WW2 flying machines. The Harrier jumpjet is one of my favourite modern jets, mainly because it's British engineering at its finest but also because it is a beautiful plane to look at. I believe it's one of the longest...

Building a 1:72 Aircraft Hangar - Advice needed

Hello Gents As there isn't much in the way of aircraft hangars available in kit form, I have decided to try and build my own. This hangar isn't exactly full size but big enough to fit a 1:72 aircraft in, essentially it's a kind of maintenance hangar where repairs can be done. My question is...
