Thanks for your responses guys. So I started working on a spinner yesterday and didn't think it was looking too bad....

Today I have been working outside splitting some logs. Then I went in my workshop to do a bit of work on one of my bikes. I do my airbrushing in there too and it was 1.3C so decided not to attempt any painting and came indoors when toes and fingertips cried enough. Sat down at the bench this afternoon and there more or less right in front of me......

No idea where it came from, how it got there or why I didn't spot it earlier....

I've been beavering away on these, mostly sanding, filling, sanding etc and the result is that the Frog kit has lost some of it's raised detail. Not sure what can be done about that so I will live with it. Managed to break one of the guns off the Hasegawa kit - they were moulded integrally with the top wing halves - so I cut them all off and drilled the wings ready for replacements. The rather poor looking plastic gun barrels in the Frog kit will be replaced also.

I then got stuck into priming ..... then more re-work.... and a bit more until eventually both airframes were reasonably acceptable. After a final primer covering I sprayed the yellow and white portions of the chosen schemes and that left me with this......

After a suitable amount of time had elapsed I masked said yellow and white bits and let fly with the RLM76, which is where we are currently.....

I'm away tomorrow on a long weekend up t'North to visit daughter and the in-laws so the two FW190's will have a few days to settle before I mask up the undersides. In the meantime please indulge me while I share a pic of what happened the first time I went to Preston so my daughter could visit the university with a view to going there......

Wifey was enjoying a peaceful Saturday lunch when Wormwood, the stray who became my daughter's cat, had a bit of a stand-off with a young fox through the kitchen door.....

More on the two 190's next week I hope. Thanks as always for looking in.

Nice progress Nick, looking forward to the next step. Great picture with the fox, I never saw one coming that close. Cheers

Looking very nice Nick 👍

Good job the door was there or you may have had a proper Dog Fight Double (Cat/Fox fight double doesn’t have quite the same ring 🤔😂)

Thank you Gents. I brought them into the warm so the paint can cure nicely and they'll be spending the weekend tucked up while I play Dad/Grandad......

Moving on to the upper surfaces, the Eastern Front green camo of RLM62 & RLM70 were a bit brighter than I was expecting whilst the grey Western Front camo of RLM74 & RLM75 seemed to have quite minimal contrast. These schemes did not appear to have the sharp angular look of the earlier Luftwaffe aircraft so I had a go at spraying them freehand after masking the lower surfaces.

After unmasking the fuselage sides of the grey machine, I had my first go at mottle...........

So still ticking along with both of these old girls and hopefully more progress this week. Thanks as always for looking in.

Still ticking along with these. After a bit of detail painting, I hit both airframes with a coat of clear gloss. Then after a day to cure I have this afternoon being having fun with the decals.

I have to say, they went on very nicely.

Thanks as always for looking in....

So, after sealing in the decals and a bit of light weathering - mostly just some very gentle sooty streaks - I have given both airframes a coat of VMS satin....

That really only leaves all the fiddly little bits to be added, so the next updates will be in the completed section. Thanks for looking in....
