wonwinglo, the pic of your bench reminds me a bit of my own...but wait.......

I can see the bench, every square inch is not quite covered......

YOU MUST TRY HARDER !!!! - i cant even remeber the colour of the surface of my bench !

and as for bunkerbarge, its spotless, i dream of a bench like that !!!

and for all you modellers remember

A CLUTTERED DESK IS THE SIGN OF A GENIUS !

when i find my digital camera i will photograph my bench and post the pics on here, however it may take me two weeksto find the camera and another 2 weeks to find the memory card !!!!

LOL

Modellers are just born Magpies in disguise,I guarantee that if you throw something away that you have had for years then you will need it tomorrow ! best friend of the modeller is the car boot sale, you would not believe what I have picked up over the years, started kits, bundles of wire, balsa wood stock, plans, engines, redundant model shop stock, electric motors, fretsaws, bandsaws, built up flying models, old boats, plastic sheet etc etc a a fraction of the price they originally sold for.

i bought an 18 inch bench top disk sander from a car boot, £ haggled the price down to £12 !- in full working order with 5 new abrasive disks !- bargain !

The picture in question is again the Bismarck. To my mind, alongside the QE2, one of the most stunningly attractive ships ever built. The hull lines are simply superb and one of the most perfrectly balanced examples of form against function.

I know I am in a minority in this thought but what the hell!! The pencil drawing next to the picture is another Bismarck view.

The picture is actually a yard shot of her the first time she left the yard. She is still missing two of the range finders and the funnel top is still shiny silver.

Nice model mate and the pic is superb too i thanks for sharing them

Spot the archive.

Right who can identify this picture ? does it depict-

1/ The public records office at Kew ?

2/ The public reader section at a local library ?

3/ Company records from the past ten years ?

4/ Wonwings aircraft records department ?

The clues are there, who possibly would live in a house like this ? it is over to you....

Iain, that is a real utility layout you have there, very workmanlike,I see the Hi-Boy is quite advanced in its construction,an excellent trainer that will fly in any weather.

*** These are all 40 year old models that are in for a re-fit this winter,I strip them down best that I can,re-paint,split the cockpits and re-frame them, new decals and replace any missing bits either by making them ( such as floats etc ) or use the spares box, there is some rare stuff so they are well worth rebuilding, well spotted,my work area is always a hive of activity.

i finally found the camera, - but i suppose its not really a true 'view' of my bench as i have several !

totally ashamed about the state they are in but here are some pictures, my bench in the shed is a total mess with a half completed fishing trawler, , the other end is currently a dumping ground whilst our extension is being built and the other shows a bench down one side of the garage in a mess with several power tools on it !- but not many models in sight !- they are all tucked away safe in my model studio at the end of the garden where i do alot of the other model work !!!- safe and sound and alarmed ! so here goes

Guy,dont apologise,a workshop is a workshop,if it was too tidy then I would suspect that very few if any models were being built ! your alladins cave has its own trademak,it simply says 'Active modeller and busy chap' well it is certainly one more contender for Nigels project, come on now are there any more interesting workbenches lurking out there ?

Only acouple of days to go come on gus its a double action airbrush capable of really intricate work !!!!!!!!

Oh well here goes my reputation , stood in the middle and took three walls, none below waist level which is worse !!!! The loft is worse and I wont even mention the caravan in the garden. Might change my avatar to Magpie.

Duncan,

I have to say I am absolutely gobsmacked.

The next time my wife complains about the number of models I have (Four boats, two planes and a toy tank!!!) I am going to show her your pictures.

I am in awe.
