I've been kept away from my bench by sad circumstances - a friend died, and I was named in his will as joint executor. Whilst a solicitor is taking care of all the legal stuff, I've been doing most of the other things that need to happen - including funeral arrangements & trying to contact friends/relations. It always takes more time than you expected. Needless to say, his widow is devastated ( 30+years married ), and emotions are very much on the surface.
It's at times like these you can appreciate friends more, and more, for generosity, and for going out of the way to help, not only with big things, but small as well. As you get older, it's a sad fact that your friends will start to disappear - my friend was actually 4 years younger than myself - and death brings it into focus.
The funeral is Tuesday, and I will be relieved at the end of the day, most of the urgent matters will have been settled, and I can hopefully get back to some normality.
I've been following the forum, when I have a few minutes to spare, and I've been trying to keep up with internet spots whilst eating breakfast ( crumbs in the keyboard! ). Hopefully I'll be able to get back to the bench later this week. I'm of a mind to clear the bench and start something fresh.......................

We'll be here come Tuesday edging you on Dave, getting you back fresh and looking forward. For now take care of what is necessary.

Hi Dave
My thoughts are with you. You have a difficult, time consumming task as executor.
Hopefully I'll be able to get back to the bench later this week. I'm of a mind to clear the bench and start something fresh.......................
Your friend will always be in your thoughts but you are right, life goes on.

Well,
a bad morning - cold, dark & drizzle, a good turn out, and things went as well as can be expected - a few drinks at the local, and I managed to get away by 3pm. & grab a little shut eye - the last few days, I haven't slept well.
Anyway, all the immediate matters are now finished, and I can get back to some form of normality. The bench is calling - I'm going to store all the WIP models, and start something fresh - something that hasn't been blogged on this forum!

I hope that the funeral has gone well Dave. I was sorry to read of your loss. I have been executor for a friend too, so understand some of what you are going through. You will be welcome back here when you can of course.
Take care, Andy

It's the third time I've been executor - it's difficult to turn down a request for your help at a lousy time, but it's rather wearing, even if you know the general procedures..................

Dave.
Sorry to read of your loss, good that the funeral went ok .
I'm sure his widow will be very grateful for you help, esp as she will be in shock.
