These are next to be added to the basic dio base. and these were only thought off after the peas were glued so some cutting and surgery will be next. I've called in the road works crew and they will be starting the dig.

Just a bit on the accessories...they're very nice and easy to put together. They can be posed open for both grills and manhole if you so wish. Don't know if I'll use the park bench but I assembled it just in case.

Had a wonderful catch up again Richard. Your attention to detail is a joy to behold. Keep it coming my friend.

Thanks for the comments guys,

Rick, yes they'll do instead of scratching them.
Neil, is that what they're called and in real life they're cast from brass or some heavy metal.
Steve, I hope I don't get Andy syndrome and keep on adding more. :smiling6:
Peter, so far so good...the mojo is still there. I have started on the curtains. :smiling4:

Cheers,
Richard

Ok, the first thing the roadworks department were the plans to locate the positions the manhole and drainage vents were going to be.

With these confirmed the pilling and digging equipment was brought in for the next job.

Hi Richard
Just like around here - the council or a utility company is always digging up the roads and disrupting traffic :smiling:
Jim

Very nice bit of detail Richard. Did the "Road Crew" pre-determine the "crown" height of the road to allow for proper drainage?:rolling:

Thanks guys,

Jim, yeh, can't they coordinate and lay their stuff before the roads are paved? Always mucking up the roads and after that don't even do a good job of filling up. :smiling6:
Rick, nah...it still puddles and you get the occasional flash floods. I made some complaints and the pea roads will be done better I hope. :smiling2:

Richard

Hi,
The crew have arrived and started hacking and digging the road...

175.jpg176.jpg177.jpg
I some places were hidden chasms...actually the base was made from a piece of ply sandwiched with wood supports and I may have dug too deep revealing a hollowed section.

178.jpg

Then the plastic details were placed making sure the crowning height of the road was right.

179.jpg

The manholes sat a little higher...

180.jpg

Then they plaster added to level off any gaps.

181.jpg182.jpg183.jpg184.jpg

Not bad fit for something that wasn't in the plans at all.

Cheers,
Richard

Just found this and had a wonderful read through Richard, love the pea story:smiling5::smiling:.
And a big wow to you for making the buildings and the Tiger, very nice craftmanship :thumb2: :thumb2:

Hi guys sorry for the late reply and thanks for the comments.

Rick, ya the road crew deserve a long cool one.
Fernando, great to have you here and thanks bro.
Jim, it may look neat now but I can't wait to add the rubble and weathering.
Scottie, I'm lazy so I find the simplest way. :smiling6:
Greg, thanks bro.

Added more detail to the opposite buildings using card and balsa...
185.jpg186.jpg

I will be adding more damage and roughen up the building as they look too clean.

187.jpg188.jpg

The buildings are set at and angle as they are at a bend on the road and pavement.

Cheers,
Richard
