Thought I'd share this with you all;

I was looking at one of the stands at the recent Peterbrough Show, when a mother and daughter walked past me. Mother said to daughter 'there, I told you Dad wasn't the only weirdo; there's lots of them!'

Welcome, fellow weirdos!

:laughing:

Welcome to you to fellow weirdo. Could be worse, we could be train spotters.........Talk about Anorak's

There's plenty of us out there!

I go on a fishing forum called world sea fishing and there are a few people on there that think we are just men playing with kids toys. I have to admit at first i found it funny but it's wearing thin now. I tend to look at my models as works of art..... not very goods ones granted but still art :)

There's more chance of me catching a fish than them building a model to a remotely decent standard!

Cheers

I'm new to this and the guys at work have really found it funny! The good news is, I don't care, and the better news is, i'm the boss! So, I know at least 58 people who are going to be working really hard until the novelty wares off. Just finished my very first model and well proud, it's a mess, but I still really enjoyed it. Chuff em lads, let em think what they like!

They think they are superior because they don't understand our hobbies.

I just think of them as stupid because they are incapable of understanding.

I don't understand train spotters, but they have their uses!

A great source of reference material.:thumbsup:

Once you've stopped caring that others think its weird, you have reached the enlightened state I call weirdvana. also known as nerdvana.

Allyne, when I have built an RC boat, I am normally asked where the bait goes. Seams fishing and modelling don't go to well together!!

My colleagues at work already know I'm a bit weird (they've been impressed with my Meccano constructions however) but since I've resumed modelling several of them have expressed an interest in having a go themselves, reminiscing about their childhood modelling days :) Even our CEO was complimentary about my Tamiya Spitfire, and he's a Yank!

Ian i enjoy both hobbies but i'm finding that the two don't mix on forums as well. To be fair it is only a few guys giving the abuse out of over 50,000 members. They also normally keep saying about sniffing glue at the same time. To be honest i think it's not really a mickey take now and it's a more personal insult directed towards me because of my views on certain things. But i placed them on ignore now so don't see anything they've typed lol.

I still go by the feeling that it is a form of art. And it's one i will try and get my son to enjoy too :)
