discussion P-47 D Tamiya 1/48

In addition to two models that I'm finishing a Zero and Raiden, missing paint the propellers and landing gear, also have a P-47D Razorback Tamiya in 1/48 scale.

This is a model that is already on the bench for a long time.

I started by painting the interior

and then the wells of the landing gear and doors.

Then, the shading.

A wash, painted the details in the interiors, glued seat belts and got everything ready.

Miss me the Eduard mask that had already ordered (and rightly so). While waiting painted landing gear and propellers.

I started painting the model with Tamiya XF-53. Applied the shading.

Then, and as yet had no mask to Eduard canopy, finished landing gear, engine and propeller.

I already have everything ready to start painting with the XF-62 Olive Drab.

Beautiful work as ever Antonio.

We used to call this type of shading 'Spanish style' as it originated (so I was told) with Spanish modellers like Juan Manuel Villalba. In the pictures above you have a fine demonstration of this style done by an expert. It is a much copied technique but rarely to this high standard. It looks stunning!

I do not use pre-shading but post-shading.

I did not take pictures of the process with Olive Drab but after having painted Olive Drab I used a mixture. Olive Drab with yellow, the ratio 1 + 0.5 and about 80% thinner. Apply this mixture inside the panels.

As the Olive Drab is a dark color, I used black as well with 80% thinner and apply on lines of the panels.

Then apply the two mixtures again. In the wings in flight direction. In fuselage vertically.

Here the process but with the Neutral Grey.

Then apply the two mixtures again. In the wings in flight direction. In fuselage vertically.
