Its a "personal" thing, Most go for a mix that is thick enough to cover but thin enough to spray. It really is a thing you need to play with and find what works best for you and your set up.

Mark just experiment. All depends on your airbrush, nozzle.needle size pressure of the air and the paint type and how much you thin. Plus the ambient air temperature.
No hard and fast rule just experiment and then experience takes a seat.
