discussion Panel line scribing

I currently have a Trumpeter panel line scriber but find it awkward to use with unsatisfactory results.
What tools and methods do you prefer?

I've got the Tamiya scriber and I'm yet to get the hang of it either. I've always used a needle in a twist drill.

I've heard the RB Productions scriber is good but I've not used it personally.

I think I've got the same as you Alan. And have never really been 100% with it. It or me, I don't know.

I have several scribers and these are the ones I find most useful.

This one is good for cleaning muck from surface detail and for irregular scribing patterns.

I like this for panel lines because it has saw teeth that help make it very controllable.

I use the rb and it is great. Fully recommended

Alternatively, for stuff in 1/32, a razor saw with micro teeth used with care has great results

I have never done any panel line work myself but I am always willing to try, I also seem to be a gadget collector so the experience of others on this forum is a great help in choosing the best tools to use.

I've used a couple of different scribes the Trumpeter one and ones similar to the type john has in his shop. As I work mainly in 1/32 or 1/35 they have both proved accurate and easy to handle but then again the bigger the scale the easier it becomes.

I use a panel line scriber from Bare Metal Foils. It does exactly what it's supposed to do. I've had it for years and can't remember what it cost, but it certainly didn't break the bank.
