This looks great.

Thanks Scott, if you get one you won't be disappointed it's a great kit.

Well now I have one very shiny Sabre. I'm going to add some different colours to some of the panels just to break it up a little, but that can wait until tomorrow to give the silver time to cure.

OMG! That's a far cry from the silver paint of old! On a scale of one to ten, how straightforward was this to achieve (thinks..."1/48 EE Lightning").

John if 1 is easy and 10 is hard I'd have to rate it a 2. Just build your kit as normal I put the cockpit colour all over the plane ( that was to get the window frames on the inside the right colour and to check all the seams ) then just used the polishing sticks to make the paint smooth, then just sprayed the Vallejo metal primer I left it to dry over night but it was dry in just over 10 minutes then just sprayed the Vallejo Silver. It's thin but not as thin as Alclad so just light passes that's it.

I'm going to use it on my next Lightning build

That looks gorgeous Ian! Such a lovely finish, now I'm torn between getting Alclad or this new Vallejo stuff for my Tamiya 1/32 Mustang .... trusty enamels or seldom used acrylics?? It's a toughie!

How did the varnish affect the shine Ian? It certainly looks very shiny still in the decal pictures. Looking really nice now , cheers tony

Thanks for reminding me Tony. Well I hope you can see it had 2 coats of the Vallejo metal varnish before I started putting the decals on with no effect with the shine.

But now I'm going to put another 2 coats on to see how it all works with the weathering, I would normally put Johnson multi-surface wax ( Klear ) on

That looks quality Ian, and great little review of the new metals from Vallejo, how do they compare to alclad II?

Oooooooooooooo suits you sir! Cracking finish Ian I'm itching now to have a bash with my newly acquired metal cote paints now and as luck would have it a have 5 x 1/72 mustangs under construction at the mo so one of them will be getting the vallejo treatment very soon. Thanks for the heads up on these paints

Very much looking forward to your finished Sabre build Ian

Cheers John
