Going to be starting this one soon, it’s going to be a long project. I’m going to try and build it like the box art. With Sergeant Pilot James Ward climbing out to put out the engine fire, that earned him the Victoria cross. I will be adding some motors for the props, and simulated fire. I’ve also got some figures to go in it.

This will be a lovely tribute to James Ward, Ian.

Maybe of interest to you, are the photos I took below at the Auckland War Memorial Museum in New Zealand. They are of Sergeant James Ward's medals including his Victoria Cross, his logbook showing the entry describing the action that saw him awarded the VC, on the night of 7th July 1941. On 15 September 1941 James Ward was killed in action as pilot in command of his own Vickers Wellington. The telegram is to his mother advising of his MIA and subsequent KIA status.

The Wikipedia entry for James Ward includes a photo of the Wellington's wing after the 7th July event, showing the holes he punched into the wing to help him crawl across to the burning engine. It might be useful for you.IMG_2842.webpIMG_2843.webpIMG_2841.webp
