Stumbled across this very old photo of the model of the Pendle Princess made by Bandai.
It would have to be the last photo of this model, as I have had a few computer crashes since making this model.
I DID NOT like that terrible maroon colour that the kit came out as, so I had to paint it to look a bit more respectable.
This model was made virtually straight out of the box and it could even be powered by a couple of batteries.
Did not notice this, until it was painted and I was doing the final assembly. You could have hidden a couple of batteries in the boiler section, as the front door could have been modified to open, then added a small DC motor where the generator was positioned and used the DC motor to drive the long pulley belt that would turn/rotate the big flywheel, which in turn then allowed the gears to rotate.
It even had all the gearing in it, even had the handles to change the gears as well, would have needed to remake the handles from brass instead of the polystyrene, so they would have been strong enough to allow the movement of the gears.
So if any enterprising person has one sitting in the cupboard, take it out and have a real good look at it, you'll soon realise what can be done to it, to make it drive/walk along the floor.
