Hi Andrew, wow, thats gonna be an impressive bit of scratching mate, I can't wait to see this one!!!! I bet all of us of a certain age can remember battle of the planets.

I've just finished the nighthawk, not a great kit in my opinion, loadsa gaps, so filling needed

Cheers, Andrew

Wow Andrew forgot all about that programme and a very good idea will watch this

Good grief, Battle of the planets, thats going back a bit, I used to watch that as a kid.

Can't wait to see how a nighthawk becomes a phenonix.

my brother and i used to have bed sheet capes and run around the house shouting "transmute". it was the best cartoon at the time apart from hong kong fooie. have no idea how i am going acheine this transformation but i thought it was a good idea ,not so sure now.

you know that feeling when you type something that you think is a good idea and then realise it was a bloody stupid idea,i have that feeling now. made a start on this with out really nowing how i am gonna do it. here is the obligatory sprue shot. not taking this one too seriously as you can see by the coulour of the cockpit.

the phoenix had nice vertical take off thrusters and i am sure lockheed would of built them into the f117-p,as i had no idea what hey actually looked like as you can only see flames in the cartoon i have just cut out the base of the plane a glued a few random items out of the bits box, look like little wheels dont they.this is never going to look like the phoenix, just my representation of it,that my excuses out of the way. andrew you are right, the fit of this kit is awful,i have done one before which came with photo etch and was better than this one, strange as i would of thought it was the same moulds but the last one was grey plastic and this is black.going to need a new tube of filler for those wing roots.now then, does anyone think it should have wheels or not, have not made up my mind.

My vote is no wheels... I imagine it flying!

Andrew this is awesome and Battle of the planets was my favorite show ,so looking forward to the next update! Wheels up for my vote as well!

Ahhh, G-Force, the memories and of course the Princess (voiced by the great Janet Waldo, who is now 88 and is still working)...

Think this is why I got into motorbikes...:shhhh:

very cool, how about some type of skid for landing gear, might be more in keeping with the vertical take off capabilities this vehicle surely had.

I was having a nosey round, and found this site. Guy called Mike Storr's CG representation of the Phoenix, it's pretty.

Hope it helps with the build, if not hope you like it as much as I do.

thats cool, nice find thanks......wheel bays are now sealed shut.

Battle of the planets - sounds like it would be right up my street, but I don't remember it -I'm 44, should I remember it ?

i am 43 and it was on every saturday morning on the beeb when i was a nipper, so you are about the right age.

anyway a little update. glued some fuel tanks on the edge of the wings ,thay could of done with being a bit bigger but its the best i had and the started working on the new nose but the curved point did not look right so i changed it to a pointed one more in keeping with lockheeds stealth capabilities
