Just a bit of fun and something to stretch your mind a bit on this Sunday afternoon. All the above pictures are cropped from old Airfix box art designs. All you have to do is identify the kit. Be specific with scale if possible.

Try to avoid using the internet, have a go by memory first.

Maybe if you know them all don't spoil it for everyone else in the first hour! I will publish the answers in a few days or so.

Cripes Richard! From memory I only, unsurprisingly, know the first one. It has the wrong coloured red pennant on the yellow cowling if I'm correct. Ron did a good job of a smaller scale (1/48) version of the same aircraft. The one in the piccy is 1/24.

Good question though. I shall resist google and hope something turns a rusty wheel or two in the old memory!

Cheers

Steve

The really not at all bad for the time 1/24 scale Airfix Bf109E

I think the 6th one is the Lanc coming into land with the engine aflame 1/72

and I'm guessing the 5th is Oliver Cromwell 1/12

The 9th is a rocket - Apollo 11? or Saturn V

After that I'm really struggling!

A couple right there, Steve obviously has the 1st one, Paul has the 6th one, very iconic picture, 5th is also correct, 9th one Airfix never made an Apollo 11 model but I'll let you have the Saturn V.

Tony also gets the Cortina.

Still a few to go guys.

Is the 4th the old airfix london double decker bus kit?

The third one is obviously an airliner but I can't make out the emblem....PanAm or Eastern Airlines maybe?

Steve

I thought the third may be one of the old lufthansa airliner kits

is the 3rd the air france 747? and is the 7th the hawker p1127 kestrel and the 8th maybe the srn4 hovercraft? just having a stab, i havent googled anything!! tony

Not far off gents, a couple of you have the fourth one the 1/32nd 'Old Bill Bus', obviously the civilian version as opposed to the Khaki military one they did. Tony is on the nail with the Air France 747 for Number Three and Number Seven is indeed the original 1/72nd P1127 Kestrel kit. Did you know the Airfix book reckons they are worth 100.00 quid still in the bag?!! and I've got two!

Just Number Two and Number Eight to go then!

Yes, well done, it's the original 1/600th QE2

Any takers for the last one?

Nice quiz Richard,

I think the the 8th one is the QE 2 and the third one is the Lufthansa Boeing 707.

Brings back memories of when I was a kid poreing over the airfix catelogue wishing I had the money to buy the larger kits.

Happy days.

Tony
