I have noticed a considerable rise in posting photos of you builds of a model in another persons build log.
If used to point out a problem or solution is one thing and often appreciated. However just posting a finished model with a text to the effect of; 'here is one I built' can at times be intimidation and even worse seen as showing off.
So once again we must remind you that although not against the rules (yet), it is frowned upon.

You are not in that group like some other sites where a photo is greeted with derisory comment, followed by photos of theirs , showing you how rubbish yours is .
Showing a competition winner to friends is not in my mind showing off , it's something that we like to see when one of us does well .

Ian's initial post was to politely suggest posting a picture of your own finished build of the same model that another member has just started is 'not the done thing.'

Now't wrong with a picture showing a particular technique which could be of some use to the builder. But not one of the finished model.

Equally, posting a competition winning model is great, and yes of course we would all like to see such a model, but on it's own thread.

As Ian points out, posting your finished stuff could be very intimidating and demoralizing to a new builder who sees it and gets disheartened knowing his or her effort might not be as good. We are all of a different skill level and what we want out of a kit.

All Ian is asking is for us all to spare a thought for what the initial thread poster might think......
