I've been building this one for some time now so I thought I'd post a few pics.

Although the model is seriously huge, it is actually missing quite a lot of nice engine detail so I've gone a bit overboard with extra wiring, plumbing, pipework and entire missing parts such as the air conditioning system, oil cooler system, pumps, oil radiators etc etc etc.....

Believe it or not, just about the only 'wiring/plumbing/pipework' that is included in the kit is the 'crinkly' black harness on the upper engine.

Everything else has to be scratch made. And that means EVERYTHING.

I also went potty and painted the 1000-or-so individual orange stitches on the two seats.

My current challenge is to make the whole car rear end easily removable otherwise all the engine and rear end detail is hidden forever.

This involves a fair bit of head scratching and cutting about of the engine frame and rear inner bodywork.

The pictures show about 2 months worth of work at anywhere between 1 - 12 hours per day. - The advantages of a darling other half, and being retired...

As a rough guide to the size, the car is standing on a standard size laptop in one of the pictures, and the cutting mat is 18" wide......

Oh well.... who said kit building was always easy...

Magnificent! It has been said that I can be a little obsessive now and again, but I have never tackled anything like this stitching. I think the more fine detail a model has the more convincing it is. I look forward to the finished model.

I must admit to being very disappointed that a kit that costs as much as this is lacking in detail.

You are doing a stunning job of making a superb model of it but you really shouldn't have to!

An update....

It might appear as if I've built this model in a few weeks but I've actually been working on it since mid June.

The doors etc are are now assembled, front end built up and fitted, brakes and wheels on.....

I have spent a great deal of time working out a way of making the whole rear end easily removable, as built OOB, 90% of the rear end is forever hidden.

The car is looking 'fairly' complete now but there's still actually a great deal to do.

A superb kit but without going into too much detail, there's a LOT of head scratching and twiddling needed to get the model (to me at least) nicely presentable.

I've added an enormous amount of extra detail and have enjoyed it all.

Roy, your work is awesome on all your Pocher builds and those scratch builds are amazing. I read your journal on the Rolls and I was wondering if you did anything similar on the Adventador? I have this exact same kit sitting on my pool table still in the shipping box from Hornby. When I finish my Mercedes I think I might build the Lamborghini and I want to do a little better than an out of the box build so that is why I ask. I have a lot of friends I've made in the Pocher build community and we all know these kits are time consuming and a challenge just to build let alone add detail to. So any tips that you might have would be most helpful and appreciated by myself and anyone else that wants to tackle this kit. Again, fabulous build as always!

Thanks Roy, it really is a stunning model when completed and quite heavy. All your extra detail work really elevates this kit. Fantastic job, I look forward to reading the build journal. Now, I must press on with my Mercedes.

One quick add here; it's interesting that in some of the pictures the color looks like a candy orange and in others it almost looks a little red. I know it's the camera flash but it does create an interesting effect.

I just finished reading your build journal on the Adventador and I noticed in the conversation between you and Codger that, you guys were talking about the Rolls DVD by Paul Koo being incomplete. I was at Paul's house the day after Christmas and he had the Rolls Torpedo on his desk working on it. I was there to look at a K90 maroon Mercedes he was selling and we got to talking, for over two hours, and he was showing me all of his builds. Pretty impressive and fun afternoon. At any rate, while I was there I picked up a Rolls DVD and when he gave it to me he told me that it wasn't complete but, when he finished the Torpedo he would forward all the additional information to me. I need to talk to him soon and I will ask him when he expects to have the completed updated version and post his answer.

As a point of interest - when you see Paul, ask him if he's interested in my Aventador rear end removal fix.

He's welcome to use it on his DVD's, and I can let him have plenty of pictures and details as to how it's done.
