Prince Philip has passed

I remember when I was just nine and our school participated in lining the Federal Highway with us holding little Union Jacks to welcome their Royal Highnesses on their Commonwealth visit. As the motorcade passed I could see the Queen very poised where else the Prince had his head nearly out the window waving to us. He had the most sincere smile.

And here he is on that horse & cart. That was him in at the deep end all the time.

Having the privilege of escorting the Royal Family for near on 20 yrs I got to know them.

Phillip was the rudest of them all, very blunt and straight to the point. He didn't suffer fools and told it how he saw it.

He had an incredible engineering brain and I had a few conversations with him, always instigated by the motorcycle I was on.

He was blunt, and very sweary but a very genuine and lovely man.

Godspeed Sir.

im not really a royalist although I like the fact that the UK has a royal family.
In many ways it’s the royal family that gives us the British identity around the world. I think their behaviour very much reflects how other countries see us.
Odly, for a Greek born man he better portrayed the quintessential English man more than many born of this country.
A man with morals and values, respect for the environment, the future and all culture no matter what their creed or social standing.
Todays generation have a lot to live up to.

A remebered bit. Philip & Elizabeth about 45 years ago visited Jersey. They passed the end of our drive.

That was on the end of a corner where they had to slow down to negotiate.

Our eldest son was standing on a dwarf wall at the end of the drive he was about 12/13. He had inherited his mother's
very large curly hair & which was longish huge curls. His hair was bright ginger. His dace was coverd with freckles which
intelocked with each other.

Phillip focused his eyes on Mark this apparition with a curious look on his face. Pauline & I & the other 3 children justfell about laughing
