discussion printing decals?

hey everyone,

i have read some of the members talk about printing decals themselves? how can you do this? where can you get the paper? where do you go to print them? any help would be sweet,

I have some waterslide decal paper which I bought online from Crafty Computer Paper. I use a bog standard inkjet printer so I have both clear and white (Inkjets can't print white).

Once you have your artwork (I've only ever done Serial/bureau numbers) print as usual but use the highest dpm the printer can do.

Once dry ,and I mean really dry, I seal with a couple of coats of clear acrylic. Once that is dry and again I mean really dry, cut out and use as any other decal.

The carrier film is a little heavier than would come with a good kit but with the help of some decal setting solutions I have managed decent results.

i live in boston, do you think i could get that paper at any computer store? is it expensive?

You may be lucky but neither my local (Birmingham) PC world,nor Office World had any.The guy in office world had no idea what I was talking about!

you know what i just got back from comp usa and the guys there all had no idea either! they looked at me like i was a weirdo, geeks! lol

Doubtful you will find this sort of paper in any stores but you could try ordering from the website online. www.craftycomputerpaper.co.uk, they are certainly the cheapest and best I have used. They do several types of decal paper too. Their turn around time for orders is excellent too.

ps...if you want the typical USAF / USN type font, do a google search on Amarillo font and you will find it free to download - once you have it, copy it into to your fonts folder within windows and it will be there in your fonts list when you open up MS Word. The rest is up to you then.

Do you know if you can use Klear/future/pledge as a sealer?

Also seeing the tip about the font for USAF/USNavy does anyone know any other fonts that can be found on WWW. RAF? British Army? Royal Navy? german Luftwaffe, Krigsmarine, Military?
