discussion Problem accessing my photos....Help please!

My Dear Friends.

I have just clicked on my pictures and up have come all the builds in their own folders.

I have clicked on a single folder and up have come all the pictures in that folder.

I have tried to get a single picture on my screen and up pops a box 'Invalid Value for Registry'.......This happens with all the pictures

Can anyone let me know how I can fix this problem? I'm on Windows 10.

If anyone does know how, can they reply in simple, 'thick Joiner' terms, as normal computer language is beyond me....

Welcome to the wonderful world of Windows 10...

This is because of a bug that causes the registry entries for the app "Photos" to become invalid.
This might work:

Go to Start, then Settings, System, Apps & Features and click on "Photos" app. Under Advanced options you'll find the reset button.

Do this first and report back! I hope so, otherwise you have to take a crash course in Windows registry editing and it's a steep step...

If it fails you can set the old photo viewer as your default photo app, but you're only hiding the problem that way, not fixing it.
Your photos is not at risk, it's just the new Photo app that's lost the registry that tells who owns what photos...
Really stupid way to do this if you ask me.

A forced Windows update can also fix it if the photo app is part of the update. There's a new huge Windows 10 update that's just been released. If you haven't yet installed this then it might do the trick?!

In fairness, Jim, 10 has been fine up until a few days ago. I guess my computer just decided to have some fun at my expense....It didn't reckon it would have to cross 'Big Jens's path'!
