ive just been reading about this on the BBC news app and wondered if anyone thinks believes or even thinks governments are hiding the truth about aliens visiting this planet

Now only a very religious or unintelligent person would believe this is the only planet where life exists

But I'm very sceptical about beings from another planet have actually visited us

So I'll open the floor to you good people and here your thoughts on it :)

Please if you can be funny with this debate please do :D

I was at Raf Cosford when this happened, we were all boy entrants not apprentices as the report states,

http://www.ufoevidence.org/cases/case57.htm

As far as I remember it was supposed to have landed behind the clothing stores building and when we all went to have a look at the supposed marks of the landing all I can remember was that if it was a ufo it was a very small one. The landing legs and the exhaust blast marks where rather small and not far apart. Again if I remember correctly the biggest kerfuffle was about what were these two persons who saw it doing out at that time as we were all supposed to be safely tucked up in bed...

Aliens visiting this Planet Alan.

I produced four of the little devils. With cooperation from Pauline my wife of course.

Problem is they hung around and did not want to go back. Jolly costly keeping 4 aliens.

Laurie

Alan, they are already here and communicate with us all on a regular basis.......

They all live in Brussels!

They're certainly from another planet, that's for sure......

The statistics of time space and distance make the chances of aliens from another star system visiting earth during the span of a particular human life time, yours mine or anybody else's, effectively zero. Actually it's the same for the 'life span' of our civilisation, even if it carries on for another few thousand years.

No, I don't believe it.

Do I believe that there is other life in the universe? Yes, it's probably teaming with life, but I bet most of it is similar to what existed on our own planet for the VAST majority of the time that there has been life on earth. We're talking simple organisms like bacteria which are not about to embark on intergalactic travel anytime soon! Neither are they going to be creating transmissions we will pick up, which makes SETI a very hopeful shot in the dark or complete waste of money, depending on your point of view :)

I don't believe that governments are covering up any 'Close Encounters' of any time. I wouldn't put it past them to have encouraged or even placed UFO stories to cover up other nefarious goings on. There's nothing new in that.

Cheers

Great stuff Barry I love reading about it thanks for the link :)

Ron you make a very good point :D

Steve I think you have hit the nail on the head , a ufo story would be a good plant to hide an experimental aircraft

Area 51 somewhere in the navarder desert was supposed to be a base where the Roswell evidence is stored and there have been reports of triangular ufos seen flying about

The U.S. government released details about Area 51 last year and admitted it was the research and development of the U2 spy plane so I would presume that it also developed the F117 stealth fighter as well and by a coincidence it happens to be triangular:)

I'm with Steve in that the sheer scale of interstellar distance makes it extremely unlikely that we've ever been visited by extra terrestrials. Plus we are at the edge of one of the spiral arms, so way off the beaten track.

As for there being a cover-up, I'm not a believer in conspiracy theories - people like to talk too much!

As for life existing elsewhere in the galaxy or universe, probability suggests we can't be alone. However scientific experiments have so far failed to create life, even though they've replicated the conditions from which life arose.

So perhaps ' life ' is much more complicated & rare than probability suggests?

Stories of space exploration would be pretty boring if there wasn't much out there ;)

Now this woman is a looney ........ In my humble opinion, of course

This brings up an interesting and difficult fact for me. They say there is an end to the world some where. I just can not get my head around that. Neither can I get my head around how large it is. How can there be an ending. What is beyond the end.

I can fathom out most things but this just escapes all logic at least as I know it.

Any one any ideas ?

It's probably much the same thing as "What was there before the beginning ???" ....... There must have been something ??? ........ Probaly not worth worrying about though ........

Isn't this though down to our understanding of science and the universe as to say we can't do as to say it can't be done ?

The way I look at this area of disproving as an argument in the ' Creationists ' area of thought , my point I make when this debate comes up is just because we can't do it now does not mean we won't ever do it , after all we are finding new things about physics all the time

Isaac Asimov wrote a book a few years back "A Choice of Catastrophes" in which catastrophes are categorised in a series ranking from first class to fifth - where the first is something that wipes out all of the universe to the fifth which only destroys civilisation but not the human race. Makes for an interesting read everything from the "heat death" of the universe down.

I don't agree with you steve.Have you not heard of 'Warp Drive'!.All any technically gifted Aliens would need is some Dilithium crystals and a copy of the Haynes workshop manual for the Star Ship Enterprise. They'd be here enjoying a cup of Tetley with 'call me Dave' In no time!.

Yes that is funny Peter. And what about the end what happens after that the end another party I suppose. Why worry which I do not just marvel at the whole thing and that i enjoy it

Think Prof Steven Hawkins is needed here. Did any body see that the Prof is going to do a comic relief thing with David Walliams.

Sublime to the ridiculous.

I've always wondered about the 'Big Bang' theory. What made it go bang?

I can come with all kinds of theories and speculations, but will try to contain myself

Here are just a few thoughts to keep this going.

There are cave paintings which are thousands of years old which depict "weird" beings and fire from the skys... No nasty Governments or the Internet, hell there was hardly any common language..How could it be that there are so many similarities.

Experimental aircraft and covert ops... A good a reason as any... These days. How does one explain these sightings before man had gotten off the ground.

If there is intelligent life 'out there' who is to know if they are much older and clevererere than we are. We have got the speed of sound whipped, maybe they have done it to light speed.

Maybe they had the idea to make a deep space ark. knowing that it would take more than a life time (by our measure of time...) If could be those cave paintings are just the proof that they came, they saw, and said, nah! we'll come back in a couple of thousand years.. These beings are way to behind.

I can't say I don't believe in them. Nor saying that I do. Only time will tell if the little (grey)green men exist. As for any form of life 'out there' Of course there is. To thing otherwise is both naive and just a bit arrogant. (sorry).

I think all art, including cave paintings, is more a reflection of the breadth of the human imagination than it is the evidence of alien visitation.

It is easy to forget that the people who made that art, thousands of years ago, are essentially just like Goya, Caravaggio, Rembrandt or Banksy :)

Every body talks about going into space etc.

But has any one thought first of going to the centre of earth and finding out what is there. :P

After all if surgeons can slide things thro arteries and veins from the nether regions into the heart it is not beyond the wit of man to travel to the centre of the earth.
