Well,

Back from Dounreay ..... actually got back early this week ( last night ) but no chance of shed time right now. I have some paperwork to catch up on and a couple of things to do in readiness for tomorrows departure to Cyprus.

With a little luck,i may just be able to sneek in an hour or two tonight. Not guaranteed though.

I received some more plaster cast buildings this week when I was away but this time from Great Northern Roads ....... lets hope the casts are better than the last load from Fields of Glory.

More as it happens if I get the time ...... other than that ....... its holiday time.

OK ..... made the shed for a quick visit ....



here is what I will be tackling ....



and again ....



and through the door ....



and floor boards down and weight applied until they dry out a bit ..... Now I have to wait and then a bit more wash to be applied.

Remind me never to change the direction of the floor boards again as the room dimensions were out ...... way out. You'll see how bad it is once the weights are removed ..... not pretty but I've left it in the build anyway.

Alrighty .... we move on .... my next targets for a wash ....

you can see how bad the floor is out ..... not good but I can disguise that with rubble etc when we get further on in the build.



the above has had a very thin black wash along with some green and a light brown .... once it dries and we see how much it dies down, we can go back with more to alter if I don't like the final finish.



probably need to do ore with the above ..... we'll see.



and finally the roof tile batons ....

I also cut a concrete lintel into the large door opening frame at the bottom of the door as this does not have vehicular access .



from the indide rear .....



and from the front. You'll see the lintel split as it was quite a tight fit but I decided to leave that in. I have plenty replacements but thought that it added to the build. The lintel will get even more distressed later when it comes to weathering etc.

So, I'm done for now but I have some of my new plaster casts to post up elsewhere so I'll get that done and sign off for my holidays now.

What a quickie Toto, you managed to do a lot. I think it's okay for the planks to be a bit odd and natural. Not all premises were made by present day top of the line architects and artisans. I visited the old street houses in Malacca which were built by the Dutch when they were the colonist at the time before the English took over and rustic construction and its little quirks on the old flooring did show some off measuring in the construction.
Rubble can hide these distortions and I won't worry about it. Many viewers will not notice these misalignments unless they have trained eyes. Most will look at the action outside.
Overall it's looking good and promising. Replenishing my plate of biscuits.

I took the lazy route as it made for easier framing. I knew their could be a bit misalignment but did not think it would have been by so much. As you say .... easy to hide.

Erm ..... hope the biscuits aren't all chocolate ..... got to watch the waist line .....

I have two books in the villa , one on creating fire and explosions and the other on on making buildings.

Well into my second week now.

I'll be home in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Not sure what I'll attack first. More floor or roof making probably. Taking monday off to let myself reacclimatise to good old blighty again.

It's been a good break but the heat has been taxing. August is not the time to visit Cyprus .....I'm more of a June kind of a guy.

Anyway ..... just thought I'd check in .... hope you are all enjoying your modelling ..... catch you on my return .....toto

Back from holiday.

Spent an overnighter in a cypriot hospital, ..... dehydration and some gastrointeritus. Not pleasant. Hooked up to a drip with antibiotics, pain relief and some other magic potions.

The heat absolutely floored me.

Anyway, i'm back. Still a bit of a dicky stomach and a little weak but apart from that .... back at work.

Never hit the shed as I did not have the energy. Couldn't drag my ass out there so it'll be friday evening at the earliest before I pick up from where I left off.

Yes ive had that bug several times an cant eat for at least a week so doc said got to let the bug die on you as if you have any food it will start off again an yes cyprus was bloody hot when we was there on holl nice to get back to cool blighty as spent most of our time on nissie beach where the sand was white like flour an them bloomin ole pelicans kept pinchin the girls tops of their biqins well i wasnt complaining lol but one took a fancy to jen as when we left the beach he kept tryin to follow her about right back to our hotel an tryin to peck her bottom the racsal did lol an nicked her towel An we went out on a boat trip up to where the turkish are in famegustus an they sent out a gun boat after us so the captain turned around quick an got us away as that boat was comin like hell when i looked at it through my binocks

Well ..... its been some time .... three weeks exactly.

Toying with the idea of hitting the shed. My mojo has decreased a little presumably due to the recent break but I'm sure that once I get the shed powered up and I take stock of where I was, it will soon return

I know that I am still on floor and roof duties so this will probably be my restarting point.

So ....asda to top up the beer supply .... then .... the grand reopening of the shed this afternoon.

OK ...... so start I did .... very slowly .... but progress none the less.



started off by looking at the first floor of this building .....



and a ratrher primitive way of supporting the newly constructed floor whilst I await it drying and ready for test fitting before adding the floor boards. The floor will then be left off until I mark the inner walls for painting prior to the floor being permanently installed.

next .... will be the roof for this " storage / workshop "



it is at a rather obtuse angle so there will be no deiling level underneath ..... just an exposed under roof.



I had concerns that when I weathered the floor for this building that I might have went too far with the green tones on the floor boards etc. However, now that its dry ...... I think its ok.

had to put a couple of temporary supports in here to support the roof rafters ......



had to stop for now as you are constantly fighting against " wet work ".

That noggin is squint but I'll sort it ..... until later

So my first project for today has more or less dried and can be handled enough to test fit .....



with a diagonal bracing pice to allow for a bit of " forcing " whilst I place the fit.

I wan't this to be removable until I get the chance to fit the inner window woodwork and paint between th ground and first floor ......... and then fit it as well as skirting boards etc.



and from the underside. still more noggins to fit yet but the basic structure is more or less done. Again, trying not to over work the piece before it dries.

I will hopefully make a bit more progress later today. The car is going in for a new tyre and brake discs and pads. A couple of other domestics to do as well. Thats the draw back of working away. So many demands on your available free time.

Anyway, later will be the remainder of the intermediate noggings and a bit of a wash. Getting through it bit by bit and enjoying it all.
