Hi everyone, new to this forum and just about ready to start a small project to get me back into the swing!
Chose to do the Tamiya schwimmwagen 166 as I have made it in the past, I got the Eduard photoetch kit to put a little more detail in and add a bit more of a challenge (for me).
Currently waiting on a few more bits to arrive and then I can get cracking.
Will post pictures of the build as and when I get started.
Thanks all.

Hi Colin
Welcome to the forum. I'm sure you will enjoy your time here.
Good choice of kit to get you back into the hobby. The Eduard pe will just need care and patience. You may decide not to use it all but it will add some nice extra detail.

what a great little kit to get started again in such a wonderful hobby that we all enjoy here. as Jim said the PE will take a little bit of patience but once completed I’m sure it will give you the detail that you’re looking for. I never used to add photo etch to any of my models until joining some modelling forums a few years ago and now I don’t like building any without them,,, and after seeing what wonderful enhancements there are available, I really enjoy bringing them to a higher level. Good luck and we look forward to watching your build progress

Welcome to the forum Colin, Looking forward to seeing the build progress, and a nice choice.

Nice kit to ease back in, at least you didn't get the Aber etch, that would of put you off for life.....

Weird , i find Aber a lot better than Eduard , with Griffon beating both by a long way.

Welcome Colin, looking forward to your posting progress on this build. Will you be doing figures for it and is there a base in its future as well? Rick H.

Hi Colin. Welcome to the forum. Looking forward to seeing what you make of this kit....

Welcome Colin, good look, I have the same model but yet to build so will be interesting to see yours progress. Cheers Matt

Hi Rick.
Definitely a small dio for the kit and I'm still in two minds as to adding figures.....

Mantis do a nice set of figures for the schwimmy, but it'll skyrocket the price.....

Just ordered a wee set of figures from masterbox.....they look good, but still not sure about adding?

Have started with the plastic, as much as I can and a wee bit of the pe! lower hull, wheels and the engine compartment.
Still waiting on a few wee bits (paints mainly) but just taking my time.

Colin,
A warm welcome to the forum nice little project I built one not very long ago. I will follow along

The only thing I wish I had done is add some very thin styrene sheet to the sides of the inner hull as there is quite a joint line when assembled.

So a little more pe and building, have ordered the bigger resin wheels and waiting on paint arriving, may fill the lines and spaces within the inner hull ....... but to be honest I'm thinking more about the base/dio and figures (decided to add them) at the moment?
