Looks nice. I've never tried anything Japanese, other than sushi.

This is the 2nd Japanese aircraft I have built the other was an Airfix Zero around 1960. Gloss bright green and gloss sky blue.

That looks superb, great painting and very authentic chipping/weathering-Japanese WWII aircraft paint was I think applied by a palm-leaf.

cool, I never realised the extent that these were neglected paint wise! great build

Great build, nicely weathered and chipped. That would look good among some Pacific palm trees.

superb build, looks as it should, very well done on the weathered and chipped, :D

all the ref pics of them i see there like that,

and I do think ,that at the later stages of the war ,they did not use undercoat so it just chip off,

maybe wrong

Very nice. This is a very old kit that I remember building in the 1970's.Youve brought it up to date with a superb weathered paint finish.I like how you've included the decals in the weathering.

A great build, I'm glad that your mojo has returned I think we all know, me included, how you can so easily loose the will to model. As has been said great chipping effects. If you don't mind where did you get the model from and how much did it cost?

My Outlook message history tells me that the model was bought in January 2013 from the following eBay sale "REVELL 1/32 MITSUBISHI ZERO-SEN LONG OOP SUPERB KIT !!!MIB TAKE A LOOK!!!!!..." bought by me for £10.50 plus shipping. It was the later Revell boxing. This 'SUPERB KIT' was missing all the tailplane parts, all the glazing and most of the u/c parts. Decals were part used and no instructions. The box was the flimsy Revell type and was so badly damaged it went straight in the bin. Kit was unbuildable and cannot have been examined. Anyway I did get a 50% refund.

I then bought again on ebay for £5.13, in September 2013 the very old boxing of the same kit H-265. Decals were unusable but the kit was complete but a bit warped in places. Building started straight away, and then put aside for Christmas 2013. It came out of my cupboard of shame about 2 weeks ago.

The finished kit is a hybrid of the two models. There is no rescribing, the rivets and raised lines add to the worn look. Raised panel lines are sometimes easier to weather that engraved ones and can be high lighted easily with a find sanding. Very little filler.

Model was brush painted with Humbrol 2002 polishing aluminum, polished, hairsprayed (decanted and brushed on), then sprayed with Tamiya IJ Green and pale blue. Green picked of with a wet tooth pick and a fingernail.

Now have some spare parts left over.

Well considering what you had to go through to build the model you have done a fantastic job, well worth the wait.

Superb reproduction of the rubbish Japanese paint jobs of the later WW2 period! A great job on an old kit.
