Looking great Phil, got 2 in the stash and after seeing the fit issues I know why they are still in the closet and not on the bench! You're tackling the fit issues really well, looking forward to the next update. Great looking office and Pilots too!

Grr never again building a kit with raised lines. I've put a few 'lines' back in with hair and CA but it's a nightmare. That's as much as I can do.

Guys. This has driven me mad all day today. I'm not happy with the progress I have made. I'm thinking of scrapping it or trying to rescribe the whole thing. I'd really appreciate your thoughts if you have an idea on how I could progress. I'm felling its a mess at the moment mainly due to lots of filling / sanding and loss of raised detail. Cheers

Sanding off the mess getting ready to rescribe the whole thing

Crikey, radical surface surgery. Watching to see how you get on with the re-scribing Phill.

I feel your pain Phil, it seems as though your one & my Black Tomcat use the same awful moulding.

Good on you for trying the re-scribe route, mines not fit for public display!

Hi guys. I've removed all surface detail now. Also took off the primer with acetone. Still got some tidying up to do plus more filling but I'll then be able to start marking out the panel lines. A coat of Mr surface will be needed here before painting.

If anyone has any tips or can see me walking into obvious mistakes please shout!

I do not envy your task of re-scribing, but look forward to seeing the results.

Getting ready to start using reference from a great mag that's been on my shelf for years..

It's taken several months fitting in when I can but I've nearly completed my first full rescribe.

I have a can of Mr Surfacer 1000 to prime the plastic as soon as I've completed the last details.

Does anyone know if the Mr Surfacer 1000 is likely to 'fill in' the panel lines when I spray it? I know it's got a habit of self levelling. Cheers. View attachment 110739

Taken a long time but I finished rescribing and have now painted the airframe with 2 shades of humbrol ghost grey.

I've learnt so much throughout this process. Lots of new tools and techniques so I guess it's been worth it. The panel lines are obviously way too deep etc but it's cool. I wanted to do it so spent the odd couple of hours here and there over recent months.

Anyway I'll continue and see how it all works out. Here's a pic...

Hobby Boss makes a great F14D that a friend of mine built and gave to a Navy captain who flew them for years. I watched him build it and it went together splendidly. You should give it a look as it might warm you up to F14's again. I admire your sticktoitness on this kit, I would have melted it down to a plastic puddle.
