discussion revell 1/48 .. mosquito mark iv .. some help pls

hallo .. doing this at present .. need some advice .. the canopy is a bit ill fitting .. fine on one side and not on the other or the front . any suggestions on the best way to correct this .. all i can think of is putty but maybe there is another way ...?

I personally would probably sand the edge of the fuselage around the cockpit to suit the canopy if possible.

It might be possible to cut a sliver of thin styrene and glue it along the edge of either the canopy or the body to fill the gap. I think I would try to glue a strip along the canopy edge and then dry fit and sand to get a good fit.
Bear in mind that I'm not a wingy thing builder so I may be talking rubbish :tongue-out3:

Or you could contact Revell with a picture of said canopy and they might send you out a replacement t see if that fits any better

I've had a few replacement parts from them that i've ether broke, lost or didn't fit.

Hi Lindsey. You could use PVA or similar white glue. Run it around the edges, allow it to settle for a bit, then use a damp cotton bud to smooth the edges. You may require a few passes with the glue and bud. It will dry clear and will require touching up with paint, but probably the least drastic if you can't get a replacement canopy from Revell or you need a result now. You could also use Humbrol Clearfix or a similar adhesive that does not react with the clear plastic. Good luck!

HI Lindsey well ive built a few wingy things in my past an i think Jim's idea is a good un an he 's not talking rubbish but thats how i would also do it to fill the gap as you can get very thin strips of evergreen to do the job

Hi Lindsey, had I seen this post earlier I would suggest you change the canopy to the later version that fits the bomber version with the clear nose.
The image on the box top shows the earlier hard nosed version with the canopy that you have but the kit you've built is the bomber version. Revell must have given you the wrong canopy.
