Managed to get a bit of work done this week.

Having realised that a lot of the PE would not be seen when the tower/bridge area is assembled, have left quite a bit of it off.

Constructed some of the aerials/radars/periscopes and loosely attached them to the conning tower.

Drilled out the 'A' frame bosses to the same diameter as the prop shaft tubes.

Drilled out the prop shaft tunnels, unfortunately had my mini drill on the wrong speed and nearly melted the first one.

Using my (use for everything) blu-tac to temporarily hold in position before flooding with thick cyano and rocket filler.

I will leave the green stuff to harden over night before sanding back.

i have built this kit once already but as Ron mentioned earlier i needed another as the original dived itself from a high shelf.it builds into a great kit and you are doing a wonderful job. when i started mine i had two rear hull sections the same, they were both left hand sections and revell had no spares as the kit was out of production at the time, had to create a right hand side..your doing a lot more alterations than i ever di, sure it will be fantastic when finshed. my new one is still in the box. havn't started it yet Ron.

Thanks for all of the positive comments.

I am actually enjoying this so far, and I don't intend to take as long with this build.

I must admit I was loosing interest in the Boote build as it dragged on too long.

Got a little work done this week on the prop/shaft/rudder

area, and what is going to be one of the removable deck areas.

I nearly destroyed one of the shaft tunnels, as I had my drill speed too high and it started to melt it

Initially I was going to drill out the grating areas instead of using the Eduard PE, but after about 25 I realised my hands are no longer as steady as they were, and I couldn't drill them uniformly.

Probably a good choice as there are approximately 300 holes to all the grating areas.

As this deck area & side plates will be removable it needed strengthening, and the grating area need removing for the placement of the PE.

Fettling the deck areas ready to fit the PE.

Filling in the gaps down the edges with plastic rod, where I had trimmed away a little too much.

Joined the stern decking to the middle section to make it one removable deck.

Not much to talk about for a while, too many medical & family issues to deal with.

Hopefully back soon!

Well back on the build again, as I need to do as much as I can for the next couple of months.

Just found out the shoulder problem I have been seeing the physio for the last 2 years for, needs replacing.

Bit of a shock, but hey-ho that's life.

Having now decided to build as a dynamic diver, I have increased the area of the diving planes by 30% on advice from others who have converted this kit.

A combination of plasticard and green stuff used for this. (Apparently if left scale size they don't bite enough to push the hull under)

The PE decking is now permanently fitted to the upper hull sides, a lot harder than I thought it would be to achieve. Hopefully when painted it will be worth the effort.

No decision yet on whether to fit the PE Side Hinge Plates, but as they contain a lot of detail left off the kit parts I will probably persevere.

Sorry to read about the shoulder problem Gregg.

The boat is starting to come together now and looking good.
