Can any one help, I'm after a outer propeller for a Revell 1/72 Shacleton.

I've been in touch with Revell but they can not help.
 
Airfix do one in 1/72 scale. Try contacting them and see if they can help you out. Why cant Revell sort this out for you??
 
You might be lucky to find one of those. There were two Shackltons on e bay the othere day.

Can you post a photo of one of the other props, we may be able to match it from another aircraft.

Did this have counter rotating props. As a last resort do you fancy trying your hand at scratch building one out of plastic card.
 
The Shackelton did have contra-rotating propellers. Can you use a propeller from an old single engine fighter?
 
I have a prop from a 1/72 A6M2 if that could be of any use. I don't know if the size would be different but the length of the blades is 18.5mm or 19mm, I'm not sure which. Let me know if you want it I won't be using it.

I'm new to this game, this is only my 3rd model, as I've said before I'll only make Jets if parts are missing then may be I'll try scratch building.

It's a three-bladed propeller which has the hub covered by a spinner. So there must be a propeller you can use without going to the hassle of scratch building one. Drew's A6M propeller might be useful. You can always alter the chord of the blades with putty or plastic card, or thin them by filing. It could be that a few mm won't matter so much if you place the replacement propeller behind a kit one. I did some quick calculations for you to try and help.

The diameter of a Shackleton propeller blade is 13 feet (4m). So in 1:72 scale: 13ft x 12 (inches in a foot) = 156in. 156/72 = 2.16in diameter. 2.16in x 2.54 (cm in an inch) = 5.49cm diameter. 5.49cm x 10 = 54.9mm diameter.

Drew's blade is 19mm long, so diameter wise that is around 38mm, which is a little small for your model. You need another 8.45mm per blade extension to make the correct diameter work. Could be useful to extend those blades, most of which could be hidden inside the spinner hub.

I hope this helps you finding a replacement or building a new one.
