Difficulties keep cropping up with this build but you're getting them all sorted. Strange reaction on the resin props. Stencils are looking good.

Thanks Paul and Jim for looking in and commenting. The plane is in the glass cabinet to make sure the cats aren't on a chewing frenzy for the time being. Slowly but surely this will get completed. For all these years the bin has never devoured any of my builds yet.

Hi Guys, it's not binned, just mothballed. The last thing that got it stalled was the PE instrument panel fell off it's attachment. Should have used CA instead of varnish to hold it in place. With the canopy closed it's not easy to get at it. Finding ways to pry it open and not damaging the clear part.
I will restart this some time once that is done. Meanwhile you can reread the posts and refresh your memories of the calamity I had to go through up to this point. Obviously COVID and my gall bladder operation got in between and I just had to get back to diorama making.
I'm guessing the maskings have gone old and will leave residue. Also to locate my decal substitute maskings...they're somewhere on the table.
Wish me luck and hope this gets off the ground.

As I was saying the year before, this is getting off the ground. I decided to leave the missing IP as is...missing. Can't see anything much through the canopy so I'll leave it as if the panel lights have not been switched on.
I worked on replacing the wrong Balkenkreuz on the wing top for the correct sized one by sanding off and re-spraying the camo. Turned out not too bad in the following images. All it needs is the panel line wash before masking and airbrushing the new Balkenkreuz.


I blended the area with heavily diluted mixture of RLM75 Gray Violet and sprayed a tinting mist over the area. I then went over several layers around the wing joints to the engine and gun ports and along the top of the wing.

The upward firing gun ports also received the same treatment. I decided earlier on to paint the missing camo splotches by hand and hairy stick. The balkenkreuz will hide most of it in the end.

Thank you Steven, restoration for me seems quite an enjoyable diversion of just building straight from the box. Partly similar to scratch building but with the beginning of removing the offended part and a lot of thinking behind not affecting the surrounding area.

Thank you Jim, it is good to resurrect a six year old uncompleted build that had quite an interesting history of mishaps and follies with the furry kind. They were just a whisker of ending their ninth lives. All that saved and I forgot to CA the IP. Life goes on so now the aircraft identification will be airbrushed and finished. The last two will be a challenge... alphabets and swastika.

Hi,

Replacing the Balkenkreuz has been a success with the 6 year old masking proving that Tamiya masking tape keeps its properties and characteristics after several years taped to a surface.
