South Koreas "Armed Forces Day" falls on 1st of October every year, a variety of displays and military performances are organised.

Emotionally Physical and mental journeys are taken in remembrance of the main Korean war (50-53), this dispute not really being over and the war continues today in one area or another, the difference being the US and Commonwealth have no 'effective' active part (politically anyway)

Here, as part of the Armed forces day celebrations ...four young South Korean soldiers take an M5-A1 on a historic journey to remember and honour their fathers, visiting one of the last remaining signs indicating the 38th Parallel, a dividing line that had so much importance in days gone by.

Even today, sadly, their weapons are primed and the tank is capable of live fire as this forgotten war still flares up unexpectedly.

Aha this must be the elusive M5a1 post.

That is very eye catching camo and the rusty cycle is a nice touch (i think the warlocks mc started in korea) lols

What wash do you use on that tank Colin?

Its all hand painted in acrylics, the washes are a mix i made up using artists watercolours, the first being a thin black wash to highlight any recessed detail then i used a rust wash (signal red + burnt sienna + brown ochre) to give the desired effect.

After the rust wash dries then i'll use a slighly thicker, more red, rust wash to try and give it a varied look (sometimes i add some bi-carb or salt to give it a bit of texture)

The bike is rusty brown washes and a black wash with bi-carb thrown on for the rusty look.

For watercolors do you mean acrylics? mixed with water for the wash?

I like the end result for sure. I used bicarb for texture when i had no mig pigments

Yes mate, i use hand brushed citadel acrylic paints and artists acrylic watercolour for virtually everything.

I think its good you can use acrylics exclusively. Ive been using Vallejos acrylics and im sad to say that i think i prefer my Tamiya enamels =(

Maybe its clinging to the way my grandad and big brother did thier models, Or maybe its because im heavy handed and im terrified ill scratch the paint off even after days of curing.

I hope you decide to tackle the rest of that huey.

You can see that Iroquois off Colin! If it goes really really horribly wrong you could do a dio of a crash.

Aaron, i suppose i use water-based paints as i've always (from age 7) had a large number or reptiles, amphibian and arachnids around and the celulose/thinners based stuff could cause serious health problems.

Also, after using them for so long, i personally feel i have more control over acrylic than enamel, true that you have to be a little careful in handeling though.
